Haynesworth Still On The Trade Block?

I hear you, AH is a leftover mess from the VinnyC era. But it's not like he won't make us better. He will pout and throw tantrums, but he will play (1 maybe 2 downs lol). I think he can help the defensive transition if we keep him here. I agree though that we need to change the culture around here, but at the same time we need to stay competitive or else the Dan is going to pull the plug on what we have.

Personally though, I don't want to see the guy carted off the field in what looks like a career ending injury to then come on the field 3 plays later and let the team rest and then score to win the game.

Rest almost always helps the D more then the O. AH is a wrecking ball. We can design defensive schemes around him. I've advocated trading him for less ability if we can get a younger guy, I'm not just blindly sold on keeping him. But he's a case where there just is no reason to dump him with what he can do unless we're getting real value in return and there's no reason they can't work around his childish petulance issues unless we see it harming the team rather then just annoying people who are outside the locker room, which is all I've seen so far.

Love him or hate him, there is no doubt that when Haynesworth is on the field, HE sets the agenda, not the offense. His presence, essentially, makes a portion of the line of scrimmage unavailible for the running game. His presence dictates that there will be special blocking assignments to account for him. He disrupts plays. He forces the offense to use precious resources on him... and reduces their effectiveness.

Frankly, I want him on our team, despite all his personality problems and his selfish attitude... Having Haynesworth on the field is like having an extra player on the line of scrimmage. If we must part with him... we should end up with at least 2, and preferrably, 3 good starters in return.

Jeff Fisher says "door is shut" on a trade for Albert Haynesworth

The Titans made a run at swinging a trade that would have brought defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth back to Nashville.

And it's not gonna happen.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that coach Jeff Fisher said the "door is shut" on a deal with the Redskins.

The Vikings potentially remain in play. The Lions surely are out of the picture, after drafting Ndamukong Suh.

Mike Shanahan says Albert Haynesworth is not on trading block

Coach Mike Shanahan expects Albert Haynesworth to be on the roster this season.

"We don't have him on the trading block," Shanahan told reporters on Thursday night. "Does that mean we won't listen to anything that would happen? No. But it would be us listening. I would not anticipate him going anywhere unless he doesn't come to our [training] camp. I'm looking forward to him coming in and competing at different positions and seeing how he practices and helps our organization."

Minnesota Vikings: Arguably in the best spot of all three teams if there is legitimate interest in Haynesworth. After their trade with the Lions, they now possess the No. 34 pick, the No. 62 pick and the No. 93 pick.

"For the record, I still think the Redskins would entertain offers for Haynesworth. I sat at a breakfast table with Mike Shanahan at the owners meeting and heard the tone in his voice when he discussed Haynesworth's decision to skip the offseason conditioning program. He feels like Haynesworth has already defied him in front of the team, and that's part of why he's already tried to trade him at least once."

It is kind of hard to undo a mess in several months that was created over years by the previous management, but if AH is gonna be an issue and from all indications that he is gonna be a distraction, I would move him and the sooner the better, but if they cant move him, then he needs to get with the program.

They've got to get him out. Players have spoken out and said that they want this to be over. Not that they want to player gone but the want the situation resolved. I think that Haynesworth is a premadona player and will always be a problem. If the coaches are OK with it b/c his skills outweigh these issues, then I'm ok with it but if it were me, I'd get his a&& out of there. Don't need it.

So I'm assuming that you want Larry Johnson out of DC as well? Because he has been a MUCH MORE problematic player over the course of his career than AH.

I'm ok with giving a guy a 2nd chance - which is what we did with AH. Remember his issues off the field and supposed work ethic issues before he came to DC but how many chances do you give a guy. If LJ steps out of line, get him out of here.

I'll highly doubt that he's here at the start of the season anyways b/c I think that one of the three will be cut (Portis, Parker or Johnson).

Plenty of sources still convinced Albert Haynesworth is dealt today, most likely to Titans for a 3rd rd pick.

Jason Reid of the Washington Post tweets that the door remains ajar for a possible Haynesworth deal, with the Saints being among the teams to have inquired.

New Orleans and Washington reportedly spoke about tackle Jamaal Brown Friday. It seems unlikely Brown would be included in a possible deal after Washington selected Trent Williams.

The Saints next pick is No. 64, and the Redskins were previously reportedly to be looking for a second-round pick for Haynesworth.

Here's the latest on the $100 million man in list form because my brain is tired and I need to put on some pants and get over to Radio City Music Hall soon.

1. NFL Network's Jason La Canfora's sources is convinced Haynesworth's trade will happen today. And despite Titans coach Jeff Fisher's protestations, he says the most likely destination is Tennessee for a second round pick.

2. The Saints aren't interested. Both the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan and Jay Glazer of FOX say they Saints don't want him. He even used capital letters to say so:

"They have ZERO interest in Albert. ZERO!!!"

3. Both Haynesworth and the Redskins want a divorce. That doesn't help leverage, so it behooves both sides to float rumors of interest, even if the interest is mild. When both sides want a divorce, the trade usually happens.

This just came out.

Haynesworth deal expected to come down today

NEW YORK — Team and league sources remain convinced that the Redskins will trade DT Albert Haynesworth Friday, most likely for a third-round pick to the Titans. Despite various denials from multiple teams about Haynesworth, the sources said the Redskins are still shopping him and have had recent conversations with the Lions, Titans and Vikings.

Detroit’s interest was quelled for good after drafting DT Ndamukong Suh No. 2 overall, but the Vikings (with fears about DT Pat Williams’ age and future) and the Titans, where Haynesworth spent his entire career prior to 2009, are still viewed as potential landing spots within the Redskins organization.

The Redskins have been hopeful of getting more than a third-round pick for Haynesworth, but that has proven difficult, if not impossible. The Titans do not have a second round pick, though the Vikings have two.

Haynesworth would be ecstatic about a return to Tennessee, according to league sources, and would be willing to alter his contract to facilitate a deal. He is not interested in playing the nose tackle in a 3-4 scheme, and that problem is not going to resolve itself.

The Redskins have accrued several veteran 3-4 linemen in recent weeks and are eager to accumulate a pick Friday, as they don’t pick again until the fourth-round on Saturday. Haynesworth is seen as their only real trading chip as a deal for QB Jason Campbell is not likely until after teams finish drafting quarterbacks this weekend.

Several executives from other teams do not anticipate the Redskins getting more than the 77th overall pick for Haynesworth, and also expect him to be traded Friday.

I'm really hoping he does get traded in all honesty. I know he's a talented player but I don't think the baggage and attitude is worth it.

Trading Haynesworth for a 3rd round pick would be, without exaggeration, the worst trade in recent NFL history.

If the choice is between Haynesworth and Shanahan + 77th overall, it takes a special kind of crazy not to pick the all-pro talent at one of the game's most important positions.
