The Raiders traded for Seymour last year. He had a decent season, but was somewhat out of position in the Raiders 4-3. He's played 3-4 DE his whole career. LAst year, he played end, then would move inside on passing downs. No problem with that, but maybe Oakland could offer Seymour, an established 3-4 end and locker room leader and a say a 3rd round pick for Haynesworth.
Seymour is 30 vs. Haynesworth - 28. Seymour is regarded as one of the top 10 DE's in the league, Haynesworth is probably one of the top 2 DT's.
Then there is the money. If they trade Haynesworth, the Redskins will have already decided to swallow the 21M bonus already paid. It is doubtful teams will pay high draft picks + million$. That leaves AH's contract very reasonable over the next 3 years. Seymour was frachised by Oakland this year, which means if he doesn't sign a contract extension he will be paid equal to the top 5 DE's in the league for one season. Assuming the Redskins mught be a more attractive team for Seymour, maybe they could agree on a long term contract. That contract likely will cost more than what Haynesworth has left on his deal. So Oakland would need to add some picks, IMO.
Another Oakland player that has been tossed around in trade rumors is CB Asomugha. He is considered possibly the best CB in football. However, his contract is huge. This season he will be paid somewhere over the 10M mark and it is guaranteed money. Next season, he has to be paid equal to the average of the top 5 QB's
