JC signed his Tender

Post by Tim4104 »

Trade about to be announced?

Jay Glazer reporting Jason will sign his tender today. This normally eitther means another announcement coming (as in trade) or they are going to stay with the team.

The later is doubtfull for Jason, so we may have gotten something just about wrapped up with someone

In this case I think it means JC's agent told him to put the ball in the Skins court to move him, cut him or pay him three large to be a backup. As long as he doesn't sign the tender, the Skins aren't on the hook for the salary. He'd love to be cut and make his own deal w/o compensation to the Skins.

I think it's just Campbell setting the table for his search for a new team. I doubt that anything is pending yet.

I think unfortunately we're going to have to cut him. Why should another team compensate us and take his $3 mil salary when clearly we'll cut him eventually and they can get him without compensating us or having to pay him the tender? If they try to renegotiate with him for a lower salary and he won't bite they have to pay it or cut him and lose him and lose the pick. At this point, we're getting squat for him. The only way is if they work out a contract with him before the trade, but then we're getting a very low pick for sure.

QB value is all over the place with the trades that have occurred. Whitehurst is a mystery to me. I am afraid this will have to wait until the draft when a team misses on a QB they were hoping to get, and Jason is worth more to them than anyone on their board.

Jason is being allowed to shop himself, the teams with general interest will have an idea of what it will take, and a deal will be worked quickly. Jason has never been a "it's time to pay me" guy, and in his siutation he can't be. He will take a reasonable deal that has a few years on it to have a chance at starting. He is not going to be worried about the first year matching his tender. Just my gut feeling on that one

I agree with you on this, but Jason's not going to be particularly concerned that we get a good pick for him either and why should someone give us that under the circumstances and why should he encourage them to when they can both just wait us out?

In my opinion this is a sign that Jason will be traded.

I hope you're right even though logic is on the other side. I'd take a #7 in a heartbeat right now just to end the side show.

Yeah I remember reading a few weeks ago that whenever JC signed his tender it would be an indication that a trade was coming. I wonder if that is still the case. Doesn't really seem like it...

It makes sense. Before the McNabb trade I could see the argument that it's possibly in prep for a trade. Now specifically the reason I can't see it is we have our QB and our backup and he's not our #3 at 3 mil. Besides, the #3 even if it's a long shot should be a project. Now everyone knows he's not in our plans, why pay us to solve our own problem?

Because Jason is a worker at heart....and wants his new playbook, and his new locker room to win over....its just in his blood....the sad thing is 4th quarter down by 4 isn't.

I dunno? ....can't signing the tender also be that there's no one else interested, and at the very least, he would like to keep working?

Probably not because he knows as well as anyone we're going to cut him if we can't trade him. He won't get paid the tender either way.

If he is traded for a high draft pick, or even multiple draft picks? ...this new FO would be starting off with a bang!

IF Campbell is traded for a 1st or 2nd round pick OR multiple picks from any draft, the FO should all get a piece of the team from Snyder and the GM of the franchise that signs him will be looking for a job

we hope to be able to trade him and the fact that NOBODY outside of a few Redskins fans who have not seen how truly ineffective this kid has shown himself to be as a QB will give up very much for him

a 3rd round pick would be fantastic

I used to advocate for Campbell mainly because Gibbs saw something in him BUT what happened here last season and his absolute lack of effort to make himself better or try and help the admittedly hopeless cause here was just really disapointing - he will be lucky to find a job elsewhere, even as a back-up

btw SBC - welcome aboard
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Despite how it turned out it's easy to see why he did. JC has poise and an NFL arm for sure. As an experienced manager I can tell you that you can detect potential but there are things you cannot determine except over time. How people will react under fire? Will they will develop their potential or just basically stay the way they are? Unfortunately for JC and us those were his undoings. He makes slow and poor decisions under fire and he just doesn't improve. His weaknesses today are the same ones as when we drafted him. He is what he is, he's not going to get any better.

Campbell : "Waaah Waaah I want to be a starter, trade me, waaah"

Redskins : "There there Jason, go find a team that wants you and we'll
make the trade"

Campbell : "No one wants me, whenever I call I say I went 4-12 and I'm

you'll probably have to be our backup"

This might be the dumbest thread ever - or at least the last few posts.

JC was never put in a position to succeed. Just like this team - it's been 100% a failure.

I can understand if you people think JC is not the answer at QB. I still think he is a good option and another team will be happy with him. But the mean-ness and hatred some of you are spewing on the guy is just uncalled for. He never whined or complained, took his weekly beatings and did whatever he could to do his job better. You folks should seriousely see a counselor or something to deal with your hatred issues of this man - it must just be poor self-confidence on your own parts. Jeez.

I do not hate Jason Campbell - I am just very disapointed that he has not shown that he's even close to being an NFL QB - AND he has not looked like he's making every effort to be better than what we have seen

Agree with you completely. Many here simply can't summon up an objective view where Campbell's concerned. Demonstrably untrue comments are a dime a dozen. Fact is, Campbell is a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL, ranked 15 in the league on a team with a horrible OL, very poor receivers, and no running game. He's also improved every year we've had him. As our team (his support) got worse, he got better-- a definite sign he'll come back to haunt us.

What is the point of this insulting post?

I don't care what you may think of Campell's potential as a quarterback, he has been nothing but professional and team oriented.

He deserves far better than stuff like this.
