Redskins show interest in Adams Posted: April 7th, 2010 | Frank Tadych | Tags: Bruce Allen, Chicago Bears, Chris Samuels, Flozell Adams, Michael Lombardi, Russell Okung, Washington Redskins
Time to go back to another Redskins item that didn’t make the cut on Donovan McNabb Day. According to CSN Washington, Redskins GM Bruce Allen told SIRIUS Radio on Tuesday that the team has contacted the agent for former Cowboys offensive tackle Flozell Adams.
For the Redskins, kicking the tires on the five-time Pro Bowler makes sense. Following the retirement of Chris Samuels, there’s no in-house replacement on the roster. Holding the No. 4 pick in the draft, it’s also a possibility the Redskins won’t get a shot at the highest-rated left tackle, Russell Okung, without trading up. In fact, three of our draft analysts believe Okung will go No. 2 to the Lions (here’s the latest mock from Charles Davis).
There could be a market for Adams. Following his release from the Cowboys late last week, three teams contacted his agent to express interest for next season, reported Clarence Hill of the Fort-Worth Star Telegram.
NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi suggested to me that the Redskins and Bears are the two teams that have the biggest need. If Adams doesn’t land somewhere in the next two weeks, the market for his services will be more clear coming out of what is considered to be a draft very heavy in tackle talent.

I think we should bring him in for just depth, our O-Line has never stayed completely healthy and if we bring in a starting LT in the draft who knows how is body will respond to the length of an NFL season, i say bring him but not to start just to have a decent vet waiting with Hicks to fill in as needed
I'm for this - kind of surprised that some others here are also in favor of this - despite the assertions that our new FO guys don't have a clue about anything

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

From what I've read, he would be more effective at RT at this stage in his career. He's a good run blocker, but has lost some speed and agility needed at LT.
say what - is that really you ch1?

I hear you FFA - I look at it more like he's an upgrade over what we've got on the right side - he's certainly NOT a LT anymore but he could be considered for a position here
kind of a scary thought really - not Adams, but the fact that we have to face the reality of the right side of our O line and what to do to make it a little bit better

I would like to 2nd that motion. even with the question marks associated. desperate times call for desperate measures. I think Sharper still has atleast 2 yrs left in the tank and would be a wonderful mentor to Laron Landry at the Safety position. Adams gets an awful lot of penalties but we have No left Tackle and the right side of our OLine is a Circus. slso he allowed only 8 sacks last season. That has to be some kind of improvement

I aree that Adams is not anywhere near as good as he used to be BUT he would be an upgrade over who we have here now at OT (LT or RT) - I just think that after the draft and whomever we might find to play at the OT position, he provides some depth and I have a feeling that the pukes may bring him back for just that
