Reid states Haynesworth is not planning on attending the upcoming mini camp either. Shanahan and Allen are shopping him.
Bro, thats old news. We already know he does not plan to attend any voluntary workouts. Your source does say in that article that Haynesworth plans on attending mandatory workouts.
You don't have to be a Skins fan to vote in that poll. If there was a poll that asked if the Giants should trade Manning, wouldn't you vote yes just to stir the pot?
Andre Carter wrote:Damn man, you know your football.
I'll be surprised if they trade him but at the same time I'll bet that Snyder has told Allen and Shanahan that they can do whatever they like - the money is huge, but these guys are not going to let this guy be a distraction - if they feel that they can put together a trade that gets us players and picks then we should do it
at the same time - I hope we keep him and if he doesn't like it, then don't use him - nobody will touch a player that doesn't want to play
Haynesworth is a defensive force but he's a part of a 'team' - if he doesn't want to be a part of our defense as it is AND we cannot get great value for him then we should shut him down
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Reid's article i posted is dated Apr 7, 4:53pm So the news that he is not being shopped is old news. They want to get this done before Apr16 if possible and the Titans are in discussions with the Skins, as reported last night by CSN.
It was also mentioned they had been shopping Haynesworth before his 21M bonus was due too. With his relatively low salary now, I don't see why we couldn't get a 1st round pick for him.

and no, I don't think you get a 75% vote from thousands of Post readers because of other teams fans voting. Those votes are primarily Redskins fans. Most other fans aren't reading Skins articles from a Washington paper. I don't have time to read NY Times articles on the Giants and vote in their polls. skins fans are tired of Haynesworth's attitude. After the Super Bowls during the Gibbs era, skins fans know you don't need to put up with players like Haynesworth to win.
I'd rely more on Scheffter's "Insider" information than Jason Reid's. Anyone wonder why his "Insider" information from a "reportedly un-named high ranking official" seems to be more accurate than Reid's? IMHO Big Al isn't going anywhere.

I'd agree that A.S. has a lot more credo than Reid - a lot more actually
I wonder why this sounds mis-leading "a reportedly, un-named, high ranking official" - I mean, why not just say "an un-named, high ranking official" is the source? "reportedly" is not needed IMO - the source is an official or is not! It implies that the reporter is not sure what his source actually is
I'm just a little suspicious of "reports" and "reportedly I guess

It just makes it sound as if his information is second hand. Kind of like hearing it from a friend of a friend's cousin's sister.

I'm going to believe that he isn't being shopped. He's of huge value to the team on and off the field. Mike has talkd to Al, they've discussed the situation and I believe this is how Mike is going to handle it...
He's going to give Al some room to manuever but he's going to be held to a higher standard. Mike is going to dig in Al's arse if he isn't playing up to par. As a man, he's letting Al have responsibility. If Al let's him down, then Al is removing all trust and priveleges.
I just hope that AH 'gets it' - he is a force and we would miss him

Thank you for that correction.
Also, that's where trust comes in. We'll see what happens. There's been dialogue between the two men and it seems to have been done the right way and in a respectful manner. The media is blowing this up more than what it prolly is, hence the conflicting reports. People getting roused up over nothing but it's the off-season and they need to get hits on their website... This is exactly how I've seen it all along. In the off-season, they need to stir to pot to get the hits. This is a good way.
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.

I wondered why he gets everything 1st when it comes to the Skins, then I remembered hearing about this...

When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hold on....
Yesterday, we got word from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that all the trade talk surrounding Washington Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth was overblown, casting serious doubt on the rumors. But that hasn't quelled the chatter in the past 24 hours. John Niyo of the Detroit News got confirmation from a source that the Detroit Lions are interested, while Tom Kowalski of MLive.com outlines a way for the team to circumvent the league rules prohibiting teams from trading players for cash. As we know, the Skins just paid Haynesworth a $21 million bonus; Kowalski's suggestion is for Haynesworth to agree to repay some of that bonus and then be paid in accordance with that repayment by the Lions.
Andrew Brandt of National Football Post offers a suggestion. Perhaps another team would also take on Clinton Portis -- and his contract -- as well, therefore indirectly helping the Redskins out. Portis has $6.43 million guaranteed coming to him this season.
My children, gather round! No retreat, no surrender; that is Spartan law. And by Spartan law we will stand and fight... and die. A new age has begun. An age of freedom, and all will know, that 300 Spartans gave their last breaths to defend it!
This is from Bleacherreport 1 hour ago with some insightful comments from Lorenzo Alexander:
Smoke Signals: Haynesworth trade getting closer? Mark Buterbaugh by Mark Buterbaugh Senior Analyst Written on April 09, 2010
Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network is reporting that the Buccaneers and the Lions have discussed trading for disgruntled DT Albert Haynesworth, though what they would give up for him is not yet clear. Apparently these discussions are very serious and the Redskins would have to eat a huge chunk of what they have already paid Haynesworth.
My view of this is that if Haynesworth, one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL, is going to be traded and the Redskins are going to swallow their financial losses on his deal, making him VERY affordable to his new team, Washington cannot accept anything less than a good first round pick. Would Detroit and Tampa really trade the 2nd or 3rd overall pick? I doubt it. A second round pick for Haynesworth is really a bad ripoff, though.
Defensive lineman Lorenzo Alexander, who signed a new contract with the team this year, thinks Albert Haynesworth needs to spend more time at Redskins Park and he’d like the disgruntled defensive tackle and team management to patch up their differences. Speaking on the Mike Wise radio show:
“I’m not saying we’re blaming him for the 4-12 season,” Alexander said. “I’m not saying that at all. I mean, Albert definitely was a force when he was out there, and I do understand, and we do understand, he’s 350 [pounds]. You’re out there getting double-, triple-teamed, I mean, youare gonna get tired.
“But we’re talking more about the whole attitude thing toward this new season, and just coming out and just being more of a team player. I know he has issues with the coaching staff, but I just really want him to just come around and be a good teammate. I mean, that’s really what everybody wants, is being a good teammate, and just forgetting about 3-4, 4-3. Just go out here, lets play football and get some Ws and win some games.”…
“But if you don’t show up and don’t want to participate, you’re never gonna know, you’re just gonna create more issues for everybody. I just want him to come out and give it a shot, and if it’s something he doesn’t really like and it’s not working for him, then be upset, but at least give it a try first.”
Alexander also said he thinks the team should use the 4th overall pick to shore up the offensive line. Sound advice all around.
The Redskins do not want Haynesworth. And Haynesworth apparently is open to a change of scenery after receiving $32 million from the team in the first 14 months of the contract. It is believed the Redskins would prefer Haynesworth to repay some of the $21 million bonus he received April 1. At this point, I don't see Haynesworth giving back money.
The Redskins do not want a disgruntled Haynesworth on their roster when they're trying to start anew under Shanahan. And Shanahan, from what we've heard from his days in Denver, does not believe in the democratic process when it comes to running a football operation.
Again, this is about Shanahan's will, and we're about to learn just how strong it is when someone challenges him.

I guess the questions are, "How badly does he want to leave?" vs "How badly does Shanahan want him to leave?"

If the words do not come out of the mouths of Shanahan, Allen, Snyder or Haynesworth. I would put to much into what reporters or columinists say. Schefter is really the only guy I actually believe.
Sure the Shanahan may want to trade Haynesworth. The problem is what team would give up the compensation necessary to land him.
Tampa Bay holds the no.3 overall draft pick. Even if they were to give that to us for Haynesworth. There are no guarantees the player we get will equal Haynesworth. Not to mention the 21 million Snyder gave Haynesworth already. Our team would likely ask for part of the money back. Now that is the tough part. How in the world do you come up with a figure? How much of the 21 million would he have to give back if he has to give it back at all. The legalities involved would likely lead to arbitration or some sort of court battle. Depending on the contract fine print.
Honestly the best thing would be for the Skins and Haynesworth to patch this whole thing up. If not, we better get a first rounder and no less.
Haynesworth is the best defensive lineman in the league. He is a proven commodotie compared to a first round draft pick which is a 50/50 gamble at best. Suh or Mccoy may not pan out. Same goes for Bradford,Clausen or Berry.
I still think Haynesworth will be here this season - we are better off with him AND we are not going to be able to get what he's worth AND we just paid him a lot of money
it's not just one thing, it's a bunch of reasons - Shanahan will manage the franchise his way and Haynesworth will be a part of the defense here
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
