Steelers WR Santonio Holmes has been sued in civil court by a woman who alleged he threw a glass full of liquor at her earlier this month.
Court House News reported the suit, in which Anshonoe Mills alleged that Holmes ordered her to "get up" off a couch inside the VIP section of the Rain Night Club in Orlando on March 7. The suit alleged that Holmes and Mills tussled over placement on the couch, with Holmes claiming he had been there before her.
UPDATE: Santonio Holmes denies wrongdoing
In the suit, Mills alleged that Holmes threw a glass filled with liquor into her face that cut her.
The suit also alleged that Holmes and members of the Orlando police department pressured Mills not to press charges because of his standing as an NFL player. Holmes, the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII, offered money to Mills, the suit said.
There's been no comment from Holmes yet. Mills' attorney, Jacques Cooper, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, "We're not really making comments in-depth about the matter at this time. We're still looking into the matter and are waiting to hear from Mr. Holmes' people."
The accusation against Holmes is the second alleged incident for the Steelers this month. QB Ben Roethlisberger is skipping the start of the team's offseason workout program today as he is investigated for allegedly committing a sexual assault in Georgia on March 5.
Roethlisberger has not been charged and has denied the allegation through his attorney, Ed Garland. -- Sean Leahy

Holmes criminal case closed after police report released
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 30, 2010 2:16 PM ET
PFT has received a copy of the incident report from the Orlando Police Department related to Santonio Holmes' alleged battery on March 7.
The police say the case is now closed due to the victim's declination to prosecute Holmes at the time of the incident. Anshoenoe Mills is suing Holmes in a civil case.
One aspect of the report stands out. After Holmes and Mills told conflicting stories, the police advised them charges would be filed against Holmes.
"[Mills] then asked this officer if she could speak to Holmes alone," the police report reads. "I said yes and Holmes agreed to speak with her. They then walked several feet away from me and had a conversation.
"This officer observed Mills smiling and rubbing Holmes face just moments after walking off together," the report continued. "Five minutes later the two returned and Mills advised this officer that they had resolved the matter and that she did not wish to press charges or get Holmes into any trouble. Mills had a small abrasion that was less than 1/4' [''] over her right eye. She refused medical attention. Mills wrote a sworn written statement in which she declined to prosecute."
Florio is the legal expert around here, but we have to think that passage will be an important one for Mills to address in her civil case.
As Mike first reported, Holmes contends that another person -- a woman -- threw a glass at Mills' face. The conflict between Holmes and Mills occurred when Holmes returned to a VIP area of Club Rain and Mills was in his seat.
Holmes says Mills started the confrontation by grabbing his wrist and yelling at him. Mills contended in the police report Holmes got in her face and threw a glass at her.
UPDATE: The Orlando Police Department also says "The timeliness of the report will be an administrative policy matter that will be reviewed." In her civil case, Mills alleged that the Orlando Police Department failed to prepare a formal police report.
Then this....
Santonio Holmes invites fan to commit suicide, Twitter style
Posted by Mike Florio on March 30, 2010 3:12 PM ET
Earlier today, we pointed out that Steelers receiver Santonio Holmes has been trading jabs with fans via Twitter, in the wake of Monday's news that he has been sued for assault and battery.
We noticed, for example, that Holmes reminded one fan that the fans don't cut Holmes' checks.
We hadn't noticed a far less charitable exchange with another fan. Holmes accuses the fan of trying to make Holmes look like the bad guy, and then says that the fan "shud try finding the worst thing that you could drink n kill urself."
Nice.
So while Holmes looks to be in the clear from the perspective of the Orlando Police Department, he's still going to have some explaining to do to the folks who actually cut his checks.

I disagree, I don't think MT should clean house at all. Without Santonio Holmes they honestly don't have any other WR that can make plays like him. I mean Ward is there and he is good but he's such a big asset because Santonio is on the other side. Your gonna give up your QB who won 2 SBs for ya? You'd have to start the rookie and do you think he'll get them back to the SB (obviously this year will be his second year)? I don't really see that happening. Hey look, that's 2 players who may or may not have been involved in something. Now when you compare that to the Bengals for instance, that's pretty good numbers..
