Private Workout with Claussen

Post by CanesSkins26 »

The Redskins will conduct a private workout in South Bend, Ind., with quarterback Jimmy Clausen on April 15, according to a league source.

The former Notre Dame star is widely considered the second-best quarterback prospect in the draft. Although former Oklahoma star Sam Bradford is viewed as the top overall player, and he solidified his status as such at his pro day Monday, Bradford did not play in a pro-style offense as Clausen did with the Fighting Irish.

The Sooners' spread offense was not similar to that of NFL teams. At his pro day Monday, Bradford took many "snaps" from under center, dropping back to pass, apparently trying to impress upon coaches and scouts in attendance that he's capable of adapting.

If Bradford is selected first by the St. Louis Rams, and the Redskins are unable to maneuver to get him, Clausen figures to be available when they select at fourth overall. Coach Mike Shanahan is believed to be highly interested in drafting and "raising" a quarterback.

I'm really not that excited about Claussen but with all that has to be done I guess it does not matter really when we find a QB that can be a leader here

I'm getting to be more hopeful that we get Okung and really getting both the offensive and defensive lines in place - these are the basics and the foundation if you will - we can make do with what we've got QB wise - none of them will factor into this franchise in a couple of years anyway

We can find the skill guys later - QB, WR, CB etc. - IMHO we need to get all the big pieces in place and that LT spot is also very important
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
