Bradford's performance was great, and showed some about his shoulder, but a pro day is a completely scripted workout. Those numbers aren't quite as meaningful as the emotion you are attaching to them.

I understand the hesitation but I'm also concerned that in the next 2 drafts we will not be in as good a position as this - we are 2-3 years away and in the next few drafts I just don't think we'll be this close to a bonafide really good QB - this is not Heath Shuler - Gil Brandt is comparing Bradford to Aikman for crying out loud

OK - lets say we don't get him (that is very realistic) and we rebuild our offense and defense over the next 2 years and then in 2012 when things are begining to look promising we finally get a Bradford type QB - I think we all understand that it's going to take a couple of years (2-3) for the new QB to be ready, by which time Okung and some of the line are already 5 years into their careers

I have no problem with making all the other pieces be as good as they can be - it's just a lot easier with a really good QB and I'm not sure we are going to be that bad with guys like Allen and Shanahan that know what they are doing here

Having a QB like Campbell makes you realize how much a good QB helps

HOWEVER - I think we're going to find out how to do it that way because I think Bradford will cost too much and we're HOPEFULLY not paying that price

Draft Tebow and trade him to Jacksonville for two of next year's picks.
Next year's draft status solved.

Fortunately there's 3 weeks to go - 3 weeks to try and get as many draft picks as we can for both this draft and next year's draft too - we have to rebuild this franchise and we have to do a great job with both the draft and finding a hidden gem or 2 that is available as a free agent or an undrafted player

I really think that Grossman was brought in here as insurance and to support Campbell - he's familiar with the system having worked with Kyle Shanahan and if in fact Campbell does not become the QB that he thinks he can be, then we'll at least have someone here that can help carry the team through the period of time it is going to take to get a good QB in here

I do not think that Grossman was brought in with any thought that he might be a decent starter - he's a decent back-up is all - he might have more upside than we think but I doubt it

I honestly believe he has a lot of upside. His ceiling is really high, but his floor is really low. If he had a decent OC and QB coach in Chicago, he'd probably be in a different place right now. What a mess. I feel bad for that guy.

Disagree 100 percent. If Bradford is available we'd be crazy not to take him. He is flat out stud.

I'm not high on evaluating players without pads on. Sure he has gotten bigger and his shoulder appears fine, but can it take a hit, how quick are his reads, is he a proven leader, can he disgest a playbook quickly??? You aren't going to find these answers out at a pro day. Hopefully they figure those questions out. If they come back positive, we should take him, of course (if available) -- as he is a top 5 pick in a position of need. We still need a line, but if it comes down to Okung and Bradford, I'd go with Bradford only because frachise QBs don't fall to picks 12-32 in the draft, OLs can (see Oher).

I don't want another JC situation where we have a guy with all the physical tools, but none of the intangibles.

Any QB would've been injured by the hit Bradford took, can't say the same for Colt McCoy; I've thought all along that St. Louis doesn't want to take Bradford, I say no trade up stay put and take the best on your board.

because if you are going to pay that much money for the pick you have to consider what it means.

I'm willing to bet Colt McCoy isn't the 3rd QB taken in this draft. He might be the Andre Woodson of this year. We'll see. Just mentioned, since it seems to be the common thought-train of draft X in round one and just get Colt in rd.2, etc. He might not even get picked there, but then he could Flacco up the board too. (though Tebow is more likely to jump a bunch of spots than him)
