What could we get for Andre Carter

Post by NEWSKINSFAN119 »

Really Andre Carter is very similar to Brian Orakpo in terms of being a pass rusher and he struggled last time in a 3-4 reasonably what could we get for a guy of his caliber ( plus he put up a good 2009) I was hoping a 3rd or 4th rd pick maybe . post and let me know :feedback;

I don't think we could get a 3rd for him. Maybe a 4th or a 5th.

I would take a 4th one we get a valuable cheaper draft pick who is under the team's control for a while

If someone needed immediate pass rushing help, we could get a 2nd or 3rd out of him. If that's the case, I would like to move him as I am not sure if the 3-4 is going to play to Carter's strengths.

Now is the time to trade him, if we are going to. He just came off a monster season with 11 sacks and should've been a pro-bowler. He isn't that old and is a great locker-room guy. I for one, don't want to see him leave.

Agree. If we're going to let him go, do it now, after he had such a good season. if we experiment with him this season and it fails, then we'll most likely be cutting him with zero compensation.

If Boldin and Cromartie only brought mid round picks, i don't see Carter bringing a 3rd rounder. Maybe a 4th, but most likely a 5th or a combo 5th and 6th picks.

I'll bet Shanahan could find a decent RB with a fourth rounder!

A fourth round draft pick is usually camp fodder. You would be giving up a guy with eleven sacks last year for a long shot. Believing we can build the team by drafts picks and cast off FA's who are aged and marginal is tantamount to believing that Shanahan can coach late round drafts picks into credible starters (as he believes). Sorry, I'm not buying it. This course will lead to years of mediocrity or worse. No team Shany has had has benefitted from his building program-- that's why he was available for this job.

Snyder, as usual, has picked the wrong guy. He'll be gone in 3-4 years. This coming year will be dismal. Too many holes that can't be adequately filled by the draft.

Right now, we will be paying 70 million in salaries, the lowest in the NFL. Vinny spent too much, Allen not enough. Same difference.

It'll be tough this year. A mediocre, at best, running backs class.

Based on recent trades, I'd say we could get a 5th rounder for him and no better if we trade him now... but if we are patient, a camp injury could drive up the price, netting us a 3rd or even a second, much like what Vinnie gave up for Taylor. We could also try and trade him during or after the draft for maybe a couple 5th rounders or a 4th in the future if someone misses out on a FA or rookie DE they thought they could get.

When he signed with the Redskins Carter said he was "playing out of position" as a linebacker. wrote:"When the 49ers announced they were changing to a 3-4, I'm like, 'Oh, great,' " Carter said at the time, apparently with more than a hint of sarcasm. "But I did it. I feel that's a testament to my character. I made some plays [at linebacker], but it took me out of some plays as far as getting to the quarterback."

That quote appeared in the Washington Times. The Washington Post reported the next day: "The Redskins saw me as a defensive end, and I saw myself as a defensive end," Carter said. "And it's just great for me being back in the trenches because that's where it all started for me

I'd hate to see him go, but we have too much talent at that position, and I don't wantt to part with Rak or Tosh
