Jones will not play RT - and that's from him directly. He also will not be a backup either.

Sounds like he won't be on our team, then. At least, not if we draft the guy most people think we will.

Yeah - I don't expect to see him wearing our jersey. I'm sure nothing will happen until after the draft.

Only real guess I have at this point is that Hicks is the week 1 starter at tackle, rather than guard. Based on the current roster, we're looking at Heyer-Dock-Rabach-Williams-Hicks. Which may be every bit as bad as it looks, but there's a long time yet in FA, and no telling who we'll be able to get after the first round in the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see as many as three new bodies added to the starting OL mix in the next 8 weeks.

Too early to say--Shanahan and Foerster haven't had a chance to work with the guys yet.

One thing to remember from last year is that Jeremy Bridges, who couldn't make our roster, ended up the starting LT in Arizona for most of their season. So it's not unimaginable that Bugel wasn't getting full output from some of the guys on our roster.

But guys like Levi Jones and Willie Anderson and Rex Hadnot are on the market. Nothing requiring quick action, and nothing that may represent an upgrade, but they won't know that until after the draft and at least the first round of OTAs.

There being a long time remaining to acquire FA has no significance. We've just about missed the FA boat. No one left of quality who can help us improve except an average NT and LB Larry Foote. We might still pick up players who will be cut, but that's what they'll be-- players who have been cut.

The only thing I can see to do now of real significance is sign the above mentioned players, draft for Oline in the first two rounds (two tackles), and pray that a decent RB will fall to us.

I am new to this post, so if this is something that has been brought up then I apologize. From what I have read even though he is a RFA I have seen no mention of Jared Gaither. He is a beast and young. Height: 6-9 Weight: 340 Age: 23. I dont know what his tender.

1st and third

I personally think that Hicks will beat out Heyer but not Mike Williams. I think its a great thing to be the top backup in Minnesota because they were excellent last year and no one here would have cracked the starting lineup there either. I think with a full year at 340 for BMW he'll be a lock for RG. Heyer doesn't have the sheer bulk to stand up in the NFC East but at least he can backup both tackle positions.

Okung or ADavis

Dockery

Rabach

Mike Williams

Hicks

Heyer backs up T

Chad "Too drunk not to suck" Rhinehart will have to fight it out with others for backup G.

This would make the run game alot better immediately but it's hard to say where the passing game would end up. Replacing both tackles in one offseason is likely to have it's growing pains.

If Hicks is 335, doesn't that clash with the smaller faster ZBS linemen theory on Shanahan?

Does Jason Reid have any REAL information to pass along? No one has looked dumber following the Redskins this offseason than JReid. Allen baited him in and the stupid little articles came pouring out. This is the same guy who did "insider" videos that looked homemade, right? Does he have any sources that aren't JLC? Has anyone else noticed that when other internet sources write a story saying "JReid reports that the Redskins...", he turns around and uses that rumor as a source for new garbage info?

I think Jones will be gone. I expect Heyer to make the team. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts at RT.

The mock drafts are starting to show the Lions taking Okung at 2 because they have signed some defensive guys in FA.

In an ideal situation, we have Okung LT, Doc LG, Rabach C, Pouncey RG, Hicks RT. I would love to grab a guy like Pouncey with our 2nd rounder and maybe play him at guard until we part ways with Rabach, and then move him to C. He apparently is very versitile and very good. I think he could be like our modern day Russ Grimm....a versitile mauler type. I really think we need to grab two good OLmen in this draft to bolster it. If Shanny wants a QB he can always grab Zack Robinson (OSU) later on in the 3rd or 4th round as I hear he likes the way he plays. I know we have no 3rd rounder this year, but Robinson is projected to go somewhere in that area, and if Shanny wants him, I see no problem in trading some other picks to move up and grab him. We could stash him on the bench this season while he learns the offense. I think he'd be pretty comfortable stepping in whenever that may be knowing he has his a familiar, reliable (hopefully) face at LT in Okung.

we have to be looking at 2 O line men in the draft . I see us taking a tackle in the 1st and a guard/centre in the 4th .

I think Okung will be the franchise LT we badley need after samuels retired . Been watching the tape on him and he's a very very good prospect .

Pouncy is another great prospect but I can't see him dropping to the 4th round . However all the experts say there is alot of O line depth this year in the draft so we could still find a starter .

newcastleskinsfan, I suggested taking Pouncey with our 2nd rounder. I don't think there's any way he falls the the 4th round.
