Defensive Line

Post by hogred »

I was just looking at the Cleveland Browns roster. They have seven DE, 2 of which were the league leaders for sacks in NFL Europe.

F.Claybrooks, Col (CLE) 10.0 sacks
C.Jackson, Fra (CLE) 9.5 sacks

I still think we should try to get one of these guys for one of our receivers (Cliff Russell). I know NFL Europe is not the same but they must possess some talent. Alot of the off. linemen they went up against will play this year in the NFL.

Clevelands DE's
92 Courtney Brown
Ebenezer Ekuban
95 Antonio Garay
96 Kenard Land (our old boy)
91 Felipe Claybrooks
93 Cedric Scott
90 Mark Word

We have a defensive lineman who progressed GREATLY in NFL Europe... Cedric Killings. He was bad in the NFL but he showed that he has heart and a good amount of skill in Europe. I think he'll improve in the pros in camp and in the preseason this year.

I see that Killings had a good season over there, but 10 sacks or 3 sacks whick would you prefer even if it only translates to 7 sacks to 1.5 in the states. I would try to get the guy that has the most potential. Plus Killings is a DT, Im talking about DE.....

Freddie Claybrooks aka (Biscuit) is a pretty decent player... I went to college with him... He and Rod Coleman for Atlanta Falcons held down the middle of our line... Claybrooks is a pretty good pass rusher... (maybe a little undersized for the NFL) but is really a great guy...
See right now I'm on lettuce... Pretty soon I'll be on fries... After that.. The grill... And after that... Comes Assistant. Manager.... and That's When the Big Bucks roll in!

The thread title says "Defensive Line". I thought DT appllied, too.

The moral of the story: don't expect Gibbs & Co. to sign a defensive lineman.

Trades are still pretty rare in the NFL even with the amount of trades this year. Cliff Russell has done pretty much squat to show any kind of trade potential
