Carlos Rogers says he wants 'a new start' elsewhere

Rodgers has been marginaly adequate in coverage, but has bricks for hands. I can't count the painful groans ellicited by him dropping gimme's in potentially game changing moments. A first round tender pretty much guarantees his return, because I don't think anyone is gonna pay him AND give up a first. Hopefully the New Order (NO) can change the culture on our beloved team. Part of this will hopefully include treating all the players with more respect and consideration. I have found that it is easier to earn respect if you give it in return. I have been a fan since George Allen became the coach, and it always seemed that all the great players throughout the years loved the team and were proud to be on the roster. Granted, it is easier to love your job when your team is a perrenial contender, but if you have pride and passion for the game and team 4 and 12 simply cannot happen. I don't share the view that Danny is a bad owner, he is a good one. He loves the team and has tried very hard to field a winning team. He has finally decided to heed the adage "if you love something . . . , and so we have the NO. I hope and pray that by stepping back Snyder reduces the soap opera culture that has pervaded for oh-so-long.In an improved atmosphere, perhaps Carlos ( and others?) might still blossom into whatever collegiate potential the Redskins saw to begin with.

Very well put HarleyHog. I think he is worth a first round pick. DHall can intercept but can't tackle. Both have ups and downs. The reason they didn't throw to Carlos way was because they have tested him over and over and came to the conclusion that they might have a better shot at the endzone against DHall. The good news is DHall is really young and can get better.

But with all the former decision-makers gone, and with the Redskins finally having a good GM and all, Rogers told Russell that he definitely wants to remain in D.C.

Carlos is an interdeption machine. Surprised we haven't seen 'stick 'em-gate' investigation involving Rogers due to all the pick he gets. Give him a raise--whatever he wants just keep him here, daring quarterback to throw his way. Pick six always a possibility with Carlos back there. Freakin awesome. -drinking

Could be too little, too late. If he stays it'll be because we had too many other needs to address and couldn't afford the luxury of getting rid of him, too.

I just can't help but wonder if he's always been one of those types that "storms off" when things don't go his way and when he was a bigger fish in a smaller pond he could get away with it. The simple fact that he doesn't have the foresight to recognize that its a completely new regime that has NOTHING to do with previous treatment shows to me he is still extremely immature and, because of his ego and immaturity, probably not so coachable.

That said, the first round tender likely insures his return next year. Hopefully he'll do a little growing up in the next few months, figure out which way the winds blowing, and give the skins a weapon next year. If not, I'm thinking he'll pine for the days of Zorn after Shanahan gets done with him....
