I saw that already. But these are cuts that just actually happened, not merely speculation. So I thought it deserved its own thread.

Marcus Mason, Eddie Williams, J.D. Skolnitsky.

Marcus Mason, a legend up there with Colt Brennan. Let the wailing begin!

Yes coach is making the decsions, but he is only a cover for what Danno & Allen want to have happen.

But I agree, let's get lean even at the risk of loosing some talent.

Then come back with better talent and a reasonable price. We had way too many overpriced (without much talent) players.

Hail Shanny!!

Is this an unusual number of players released like this? Just curious.

Yes. An uncapped year means that you can clear out past mistakes much more easily than usual. It will be like this around the league.

I am so glad Randle El is finally gone... After a big cut day, tonight will be very exciting as free agency opens at midnight.

I'm VERY worried about the offensive line, and I pray that we take a tackle with out 4th overall pick. Dockery seems poorly suited as a zone blocking LG (is he even remotely tradeable?) and he and Rabach are now our only linemen.

Offensively the Redskins are a mess IMO and defensively we're in total upheaval. It's going to be VERY interesting/scary to see how we approach free agency.

I will miss Griff. But it does appear the FO has a plan or direction at least.

I agree with you.. Im very curious as to how this all plays out..

but I hope DANNY BOY has multiple jets.. it seems in the years past we have been the only team to really jump out hard and fast in free agency while other teams took a back seat.. I dont think that will be the case this year.. teams are gonna go HARD after the few young talented free agents available..

The Bears & Dolphins are already 2 teams rumored to already be talking to and making pushes for guys like Rolle and Dansby..

How refreshing, for once the Skins are unloading unnecessary contracts and players we dont need anymore.

Randle El was just collecting a paycheck over here. Good riddens.
Griffin did good I wish him well. Betts was also a solid contributer.
Sean Taylor starting free safety Heavens team!

At first I saw these cuts as very shocking. However I have wanted Betts and Cartwright gone for years. The Griffin release is interesting to me, did we owe him a lot of money? I always thought he was a solid DT. I suppose he was getting rather old though too. Betts would run for 2 yards and then strain his back. I guess he wont be able to stand in the corner at Jackson's anymore and stalk cougars.

I think the Rock cut is interesting but I don't see him lasting long. My thinking is he's not going to sign a big contract but what he offers on special teams and the fact that he doesn't have many carries, I could see him in Minnesota.

I agree about the odd boy-love some fans have for Brennan. But I'm a little shocked about Mason because Shanahan has always liked a stable of young RB's. Would have thought Mason would at least be kept for training camp.

Tentatively, I like the professional way Shan/Allen are doing things. A serious "breathe of fresh air" so far. Now, watch them sign T. Owens to blockbuster deal 5 minutes from now and blow the whole thing
