Manning v. Gregg Williams

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Manning v. Gregg Williams

Post by Gibbs4Life »

Anyone else looking forward to seeing how Gregg attacks Peyton?

I think we should've waited on D-coordinator and brought Gregg Back.

The only way he'd come back here is as HC, and I'm not even sure about that.

I think Manning will shred that defense apart typical Peyton Manning style.. no disrespect to our team but we put up 30 vs them so I can only imagine this superbowl.

I agree, Peyton will excel in the Super Bowl and win it again. He's a stud, the best I've ever seen and I remember Johnny U, Bart Starr, Sonny Jurgenson & Joe Namath! I was heartbroken when the Jets beat the Colts...just bummed out.

Peyton is so good I think he could call the entire game without help from the O Cordinator. The best, period.

Theonly way he'd come back is if Danny sold the team.

I'm kind of glad that he's not our HC or we would not be looking at doing what we're going to do here - If Williams had won a few games here we'd still have Cerrato and Snyder running things - nothing is worth that

We could have Belicheat as coach and Peyton as our QB and we'd still be a mediocre franchise = NO THANKS

plus Greg Williams is not good enough :D
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I seem to remember Gregg having success as D coordinator with us against Peyton. He knows how to disguise coverage.

ROTFALMAO you love to throw stuff like this out there - what were you watching on Sunday? - you must have missed Greg Williams' latest effort

the Vikings put up 475 yards against the Saints & Gregg Williams' defense AND in their house

Yeah, Minnesota lost that game more than the Saints won it. Peyton also does something Brett doesn't; He changes the plays.

I'll take Peyton over Williams

It doesn't really matter, he doesn't have the personnel to stop him. Although their defense should have been MUCH worse this year, and you have to credit Williams.

If Manning gets hit like Farve did, it'll be close.

In my opinion if the Saints give up what 475 yards, and 31 first downs it will be a long day for the Saints. The Colts will not turn it over 5 times

Peyton will pick these guys apart. The Jets have one of the best pass defenses in the league and were helpless once the Colts made their initial adjustments. The Colts defense is good enough to keep the Saints in check. I don't think this Superbowl will be a very close game.

I don't actually give the Saints much of a chance in this game. Manning is too good and knows how to win now.

During their march through the playoffs, the New Orleans Saints have battered and bruised (and nearly broken) two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks -- Kurt Warner of the Cardinals and Brett Favre of the Vikings.

They're now setting their sights on a third man whose oversized forehead eventually will be memorialized in bronze.

Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams recently told a Nashville radio station that the Saints plan to rattle Colts quarterback Peyton Manning by hitting him whenever they can, and that the goal is to knock him out of the game.

"This guy's got a great clock in his head," Williams told 104.5 The Zone, via ESPN.com. "The big thing is that he throws the ball so early that we're going to have to do a good job of finding ways to get to him and when we do get to him we're going to have to make sure he gets a couple 'remember me' shots when we get there."

The Saints applied several "remember me" shots to Favre on Sunday, prompting many a Vikings fan to utter a phrase that for broadcast television purposes would be edited to sound like "forget you." One such hit to Favre's legs didn't draw a flag, even though NFL V.P. of officiating Mike Pereira admitted last night that a roughing the passer penalty should have been called.

And Williams won't be reeling in his troops for the Super Bowl. Instead, it sounds like he's willing to risk a few 15-yard walk-offs if it means that Manning eventually will be carted off the field.

"When you put too much of that type of worry on a warrior's mind, he doesn't play all out," Williams said. "If it happens, it happens. And the only thing you'd like for me to say is that if it happens you hope he doesn't get back up and play again."

You hope he doesn't get back up and play again. (We wonder what Archie thinks about his former team's objectives?)

In other words, "We'll gladly trade a penalty or two if it means that we get to see Curtis Painter instead of Peyton Manning."

In other words, the NFL should consider fining not only the players when dirty hits are applied to quarterbacks, but also their coaches.

Now I'm not a coach so I'm speaking as a football fan, isn't knocking the QB out the game like all defensive player's goals? Lavar had mentioned that was the whole defense's goal when he played.. did the players go away from that because of all the tick-tack rules? (like the Brady rule)

My brother is a Jets fan and he practically cried like a baby when Manning barely got touched ( we are originally from NJ) in the AFC title game and the jets have a shut down corner no disrespect to the saints DBs but if Peyton can hack up the Jets like he did and with out his best two receivers having a a good day what he going to do in the SB and trust me I really don't like the guy think he is smug , just like his little brother (I remember I was @ MSG with my bro on draft day when he got drafted and traded by the chargers what a little crybaby) hope Rak destroys him next year

You know I don't advocate violence but in homage to my bro I hope Manning is carted off the field it would prove the Manning family isn't invincible plus I like Gregg Williams and really who isn't rooting for the Saints ( beside the Midwest)

I think the object of the game should be to be the other team ... not injure one of their players in order to win.

Williams ought to be fined for even talking like that .. advocating hurting another player ... hoping he doesn't "get up".

And it was clear that the Saints employed that type of strategy against Favre, with some of the cheap shots they dished out. Favre played tough, and I was sorry to see the Saints win ... I started out rooting for the Saints, but not anymore.

I'll enjoy watching Payton tear their butts up.

There is no place in professional sports for intentionally trying to hurt a player .... disgusts me. Knock the heck out of them and make them fumble, YES, but not try to injure them.

Williams Sucks, and I'm glad his fat rear end is gone.
