Half Life 2 release date?

For all you gaming Hogs out there...has anyone heard when Half Life 2 for the PC will finally be released? I've been waiting for what seems like forever. For all of you who haven't played the original Half Life, I highly recommend it. It raised the bar for first person shooters. It has a pretty darn good multi-player mode as well.

I found this quote in an article on one of my favorite gaming sites,

Although Sierra and Valve will not give a definate release date, you can pre-order it on Amazon.com and EBGames.com, both of which state September 1 as the release date.

I'm holding out to buy a new video card until HL2 is released. Hopefully they will continue to drop in price.
