Two good guards are better then one tackle!
I was thinking if we trade down. It would be better to draft a high profile player and just pick up two great guards.
Even if we use the 4th pick on lets say Jimmy Clausen or Eric Berry? We could still pick up the best guard and a center in the fourth round?
I just dont think this years draft has a tackle worthy of the number four pick.
The best scenerio would be draft a high profile player with the late first. Then with two second round picks we get the two best guards. That will improve our line tremendously.

Who do you suppose protects our QB from the pocket collapsing from the middle?
Look I am not saying ignore left tackle. I am just saying we could load up on guards which is a much deeper position then tackle this year.
If I know you by now I am guessing you want us to draft a tackle in the first, guard in the second, center or guard in the fourth. Am I correct in my assumption?

There was not much of an issue with the pass rush up the middle. Dockery is fine, and M Williams was looking comfortable when he got hurt.
You're close. The problems are the Tackles. Take care of them, and we are in decent shape. Find a C/G of starter quality to groom, and improve the depth, and we're fine. I would see either Okung with the 4th pick, or trade down for multiples. Select best availible OT with the first, and the best player of need, whether OT/C/G/QB/S/CB/RB or LB with the next. If an RT is availible in FA, that would be fine.
A prime LT is critical to whomever the QB is next year... whether Campbell, a rook, or some FA vet.

I was just reading online somewhere - I can't remember where. Maybe it's Todd McShay but the author said that this is a deep draft in the offensive line positions and QB. So that gives me a bit of faith that we should be able to move around a bit in the draft and still secure our needs - for the most part and then fill some positions with free agency.
With the expected signing of Mike Shanahan, I'm sure we'll get a leg up with some guys because they know his reputation and how things are done. They'll know that this team is going to be competitive real soon. That's just my gut feeling on it.

I disagree on Mike Williams. I watched him on his feet too many times and JC on his back to think he can get it done as a starter.
I have no problem trading down as long as we can address left tackle and find a starter. We can possibly move Levi Jones to RT or address with draft/another FA, but for all that is holy, please do not start Heyer again at T...

Yeah, well he would have 2 options...1 is to 'feel demoted' and move on over to the other side and 2 is sit another 1/2 a year or longer until someone may need you. Your choice.

Yep, saying it and following through are two different things.

I cant say i disagree with your strategy. Solid and sound cant complain if our team went this route.
If we trade down and aquired a late 1st and 2nd. We could also opt to just go after a tackle, guard and guard or Tackle, Tackle and guard. While that bores me to death I know it is necessary and could shore up the offensive line.

Yeah Heyer at any tackle position was a nightmare to watch. I also put part of the blame on JC though. He still makes terrible decisions. Either way we do need a tackle.

Talking about tackles. I wonder how Shanahan approaches this years draft. In years past he has preferred the smaller O lineman due to his zone blocking schemes. I also think Shanahan used to rip off the Skins in draft deals as well. I wonder if he can find a team to steal picks from now?
I wont be surprised to see Shanahan opt for more mobile O lineman. So it will be interesting to see this off season.

We'll be no better than before with small lineman in the NFC East. Please let Shanahan be intelligent enough to adapt to his surroundings.

Yeah, NFC East teams used to regularly pound his Broncos by playing smashmouth football. I hope he understands he's now playing with the big boys.
