Lovie to stay with Bears

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Lovie to stay with Bears

Post by BearSkins »

Dreadful decision. I guess the penny-pinchers at Halas Hall din't wanna man and do what is right for the organisation. Next year will be a whole year of Dead Coach Walkin' cos we all know he'll get fired at the end of it. I would think the entire offensive coaching staff will go which means we will have a one-year OC (Martz? He's gonna get Cutler killed). Hopefully the 'powers' that be force Lovie to scrap the awful Cover 2 and hire a REAL Def. Co-ord.

Can't believe I am saying this in 2009, but bring on 2011. :(
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Honestly...I know it's not their motive but I like the patiences that comes with cheap owners...Look at Cincy...most owner would have fired Lewis...

The Bengals were putrid before Lewis came there. He had a couple of decent season by their standards, that why he is still there.

One winning season and for the record Lovie has a better record.

That one winning season was like the first in 18 years wasn't it? Bears have much richer history and higher expectations.

hopefully we won't have Blache next year - his stats look great if you want a coach whose defensive coaching leaves a lot to be desired but he has great stats
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

He's still there because the owmner doesn't want to spend money...you think he would have survived back to back 4,5 win seasons here

I think you and I are the olnly ones that have this tought process, SJ. Stats are well and good, but on the field, it's like a gamble for your life every drive.
...any given Sunday....

RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

My condolences. One unlikely Super Bowl run and you get stuck with the guy for years of poor player and game management. Well, now you know how Baltimore must have felt for all of those years with Billick.

I can't believe they would keep the Lovie train running for another year. It's clearly...off the track at this point.

Lovie staying, now confirmed. Losing his DC responsibiilities though and ol' Norval's bro Ron is fired as OC. OWrd on the street is that Martz is frontrunner to be new OC. Lovie says the Cover-2 stays as the defensive scheme. Oy vey.

It was actaully pretty funny cos they had the Team Prez and then the GM on first saying how this season was unacceptable and blah blah blah and changes were being made for the better, the status quo was not acceptable blah blah blah - and then Lovie comes out and basically says that as long as he is head coach that Cover-2 is gonna be the scheme and we are still gonna get off the bus running. Uhoh. Birng on 2011.

I wanted to ask you, if Bill Cowher was really serious about being the head coach for the Bears, do you think that they would fire Lovie?

I'm kinda hoping they have some secret Snyder-Shanahanesque deal made already. Most of our roster will be back and we have no Rd1 or Rd2 draft pick. I'm hoping they have said to Cowher, wait a year, we'll happily fire Lovie with one year left on his contract, we are gonna suck again tihis year so you will have some juicy draft picks to choose your players from, current players will be one year nearer the door or all the way through it already - come on in! But I kinda doubt it - once again we will go with the CHEAP young up-and-comer assistant coach from somewhere - a la Lovie, Jauron, Wannstedt and, I suppose, even Ditka.

Honestly, I think if the McCaskey's were serious about getting Cowher then, yeah, they would go right out and do it - especially given their close ties with the Rooney's.

Thjis team needs either Cowher or similar - soemone who willl get in faces when they make a mistake and make the players accountable unlike dead-pan Lovie who for all the world looks like he is pondering the toppings for his next pizza while he gazes upon the latest on-field disaster.

As for Lovie, he has lost the fans, the city, the media (as has Angelo to be fair) so, coupled with this inadequacies, it makes no sense for me not to have hm fired. You can expect boos down on the lakefront from week 1 to week 16 in 2010 I guess.

Heck, Chicago would LOVE Singletary back - Coach, mayor, whatever! :D

Because the fools in charge believe that Lovie can turn it aorund. They say money wasn't a factor but to cam Lovie right now would cost them $11m. Plus, it's not just the coaches, it's also the GM that would have to go as Angelo is AWFUL - but he has been signed through to 2013. It's a mess.
