We should have know then there was trouble ahead, lol. But in all seriousness.. i would just say that its time to find players that are dedicated, have the right attitude and want to win. Talent and
character are what we need.... master of the obvious i know but..

Then watch Ricky jump up from the crowd and run a patten as Rat Shanahan tosses him a perfect spiral...

Greetings Gentelmen,

My name is Mike Shanahan but you can just call me "Coach".

Today we start preparing for the 2010 season.

I have only one rule.
Everybody practices, no one quits, if you don't do your job, I'll get someone who will.

Ok the last line based on a line from Starship Troopers but heck it should apply to the team.
In memorium Sean Taylor 1983-2007 R.I.P.

Long live the Legend of "Meast".

So if I am Shanny I say:

"Please welcome team president and director of scouting: John Elway! I can't win without him."

lol

91-69 in Denver since 1998 w/o horse face. That is the same time frame DS has owned the Skins and MS has had 2 division titles and only 2 losing seasons. His best post Elway years were with Jake the Mistake! If you can win with him, you can win with anyone (well maybe not Campbell - but we probably will see!).

So lets not pretend he can't win w/o Elway. He just didn't win the SB and neither did Shula with Marino. Peyton only has one ring and he is better than Big Ben and Tom Terrific but they have 5 rings.

I don't like Ratahan, but I know he is a good coach. I just wanted a guy that would lay down the law with these players and use some Nike motivational stragies (Kickem with one then tell just do it!)

Come on. Many coaches out there can say that. There are only a few that haven't won without extremely successful QB's...Look around right now at the coaches. There aren't many successful coaches out there that do not have a top notch QB. You need both to win it all. Coach and QB.
Miss you 21

I am grateful that the revenue stream my new has will allow me to cut players that have not come close to performing at their contract level. I start with Randle-El (awful), Smoot (what were they thinking bringing him back??), Landry (you must cover and tackle in the NFL to play safety ) and Cartwritght (about the only thing Portis was right about all season). Portis ,no work ethic = no place for him on this team. I can find a good runningback late who will be hungry to play. Moss, it is time to go, thanks for being a pro, but we need an upgrade here.

I also have the personnel men in place that can hit the pavement looking for a team to trade Haynesworth. Now I do understand the former administration locked me into a crazy contract with the NFL's laziest player, but for a dime and a late draft pick I unload this locker room tumor.

Now that I have unloaded some of the dead weight from the roster I start looking to fill holes in this order OL, DB, RB. Once I have the roster in place I take the team back up to Carlisle and hold a mandatory training camp on campus. Because no matter how much the players love the easy life of Ashburn training camps that is just not what they are being paid for and nor does it do anything at all for team chemistry and building a championship team!

You dump Haynesworth and don't get a DT? I guess that year that Carter (and our only Pro Bowl selection this year) had had nothing to do with the best defensive tackle in the game  . The '08 season was horrific for QB pressure...I don't want that kind of defensive line again.

If you have a smart D coord, you won't have problems out of Big Al. With a monster talent like that, you let him do what he does best.

Smoot is a versatile vet that we could hang on to for mentorship. He can play safety and nickel CB.

I do agree about training camp.
...any given Sunday....

If I were coming in, it would be something like this:

"I'm the new coach. Rule 1; my way or the highway. Rule 2; see rule 1. Rule 3; if you wear a jersey on Sunday, I am your point of contact for everything. There will be no direct communications with anyone without the term 'coach' in their title. If there's anyone who thinks they can't handle it, now's the time and don't let the door hit you on the way out. It's not going to be easy, but it WILL get better, I promise you."

i would introduce myself and let the players do the same and let them know right away what my intentions will be from the start. i will even go on record to say some of you will be here and some of you will not be here but the ultimate goal is to get everyone here at this moment headed in the right direction. let,s get committed in the offseason and come training cam/mini camp OTA,s be ready to go. the number one thing before i leave you guys for today everyone is accountable for your own actions and handle it like professionals.
thanks you
