There will be an announcement either today or tomorrow introducing Shannahan as the new coach.

I would be surprised if that happened...To hear Bruce Allen speak the search is just begining...so to introduced him today would seem odd...a 4 hour coaching search??? I like what Bruce is doing...he getting this thing on track like it should have been from the start...I think we'll see a minority interveiwed before Shanahan or whoever is annouched

Maybe. But I think that the way that Allen was talking (i.e. wanting a proven leader and winner) that he was referring to a head coach like Shanahan. With the Buffalo vacancy, the Raiders opening, etc. I bet they make a move quickly, probably announcing the hiring by tomorrow or Wednesday.

Yeah, I think it will be swift too. If they have to Rooney Rule another candidate, they will get that out of the way and then announce Shanny as the new head coach. It won't take long as they aren't hiding anything.

I wonder if they're bringing Kyle back too?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... th-father/
All signs are pointing towards Mike Shanahan joining the Redskins before long. If he does, Mastermind Junior may not be far behind.

Texans offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan told the Houston Chronicle he thinks the "timing will be right" to join his father next season, if Mike is offered a job.

"When he got fired by Denver last year, I told him when he came back I wanted to work with him, no matter where," the younger Shanahan said Monday.

To go public with this plan, we have to assume Texans coach Gary Kubiak and the Houston organization is fine with this decision. Kubiak coached under Mike Shanahan for 11 years.

Shanahan and family member just landed in DC on Redskins1
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

He just got off the plane and went into a limo... we'll see how quickly they can rush him to Redskins Park. I'm sure he's there by now. It's only a few minutes away.

Dan Hellie of Channel 4 is reporting that he saw Shanahan get off of a plane at Dulles and get into Snyder's car. He tried to get a comment but was rebuffed.

Mr & Mrs Shanahan in Snyder's limo and headed to Ashburn - this has obviously been in the works for a while

Man is this the worst kept secret ever?

Seriously all season long I've been thinking this must just be some big smokescreen and Snyder will pull Bill Cowher from behind a curtain at the last minute.

The link said the plane landed at Dulles at 10:45 AM local time and it was 84 degrees and cloudy. I don't want to point out the desparity in temp as a caution to this being a fake, but something is not right!

There's nothing fake about the story. A reporter from NBC saw him and tried to talk to him.

Here's a pic as he got off the plane...

Apparently Snyder met him at the airport and Allen left Redskins Park to meet up with them. I would imagine that Shanahan wants some assurances that Snyder will give him and Allen autonomy to run the team.

The Washington Redskins have moved quickly in their pursuit of Mike Shanahan.

The former Denver Broncos coach flew to Washington hours after the team fired Jim Zorn.

Shanahan landed on own Dan Snyder's plane, dubbed Redskins One, at Dulles International Airport near Redskins Park in mid-afternoon. Shanahan then hopped into Snyder's limo and drove away. He refused to comment to NBC4's Dan Hellie, who was awaiting his arrival.

Multiple sources said the team has been talking to Shanahan for months, NBC4's Lindsay Czarniak reported, and the team could announce Shanahan as the team's next head coach soon, if everything goes as the front office hopes. Contract figures of five years and $7 million per have been rumored. That would make Shanahan the highest-paid coach in the NFL.

Shanahan is the team's top choice to replace Zorn, who was dismissed in the pre-dawn hours a day after Washington completed a 4-12 season with a 23-20 loss at San Diego.

Shanahan won two Super Bowls in 14 seasons with the Broncos. He was fired a year ago after Denver missed the playoffs for the third straight season.

OK so when Snyder says yes Allen should show DS the door...Seriously if I was Snyder I'd be chasing my wife around the yatch in the Caribbean..I mean how cool would be for Allen to tell the media DS is on vacation!!
