Golly gee! This is as much fun as reading about English football...just throw in the phrase "linked with" and "swoops for" and you have the Premier League, and all of the rumors come from agents who fish for interest in their clients.

I'm about 60% sure that we will know the new Redskin coach by Wednesday, but then I was about 60% sure that Greg Williams would be named coach. Hey, everybody predicted GW, right?

I am about 90% sure that we will have a good idea of the Redskins' future by the end of the week. If Allen has signed a coach by Tuesday or Wednesday, then he's in charge and we can settle in for some football.

If this drags out, then Snyder is still misbehaving.

Yes...this might be the real test to see if Snyder has stepped back. Here's hoping.

^ Trust me this won't drag out.

I'm about 99% sure Shanahan will be named. Since it seems everyone in the media has already signed off on it. Which makes me laugh when I keep seeing fans of other teams saying "Oh Shanny is interested in our team."

No he's not. DS tried to get him last summer and he said no give Zorn one more year. DS and Shanny are good friends and talk regularly since about 2003 I think it was when they roomed together at a conference. This has been reported by Schefter as well. Schefter being good friends with Shanny is getting the most info out of the situation vs. any other media person. Schefter has stated Shanny will not go to the Bills and that he has turned them down. He has turned down the Bears, Browns. Schefter has said Shanny does not want the Dallas gig cause he wouldn't have as much control.

Now that leaves Tampa ... which just came out endorsing its current coach for next year, and Carolina who has endorsed Fox unles he buys his contract out. Then there's the issue of Houston. Some say he might be interested in Houston but again media personel have said Shanahan does not want to take the job from Kubiac "his good friend."

I'm telling you DS went to see Shanny in Denver back at the break. Shanny told him no he would not take the job mid year cause it wouldn't change the outcome. He needs to instill his offense not play with someone elses. If he came in and did bad everyone would be wanting him out now also, so I think he made a good decision waiting.

I think an agreement has been made and after the game on Sun. (how soon I don't know) Zorn will be fired and quite possibly we could hear that Shanahan has been named HC prior to midnight or shortly after. Since the game starts at 415pm and will go about 3 1/2 hrs I figure they will arrive back around 8 or 9pm. DS tells Zorn he's fired and Shanny is on site to sign his contract. Media is notified and perhaps by midnight we will hear. The safe bet is it's announced by 9am Mon. morning.

I would still almost bet it's told to us by or around midnight with a presser set for 10am Mon.

Now you wanna bet RAM?

Plus I didn't even mention that it was Shanahan who told the Bills wherever he goes he wanted Allen as his GM.

Hmmm. Who signed Allen? Oh yeah the Skins did.

Here's the link in regards to it...

Who is the one who asked for the bet???? I was, obvoiusly when you ask fore more information about my 4 hours with MS playing golf what where you expecting?, that he was going to tell me all his plans with the Redskins?, NO. I talked to him on how I've always been a Redskins fan, That every year I go to see the Skins play in DC, that there not one week that i miss a game in tv, etc..., don't be so literal in thinking that all 18 holes we talked about the redskins, it was just an expression saying that I has the opprtunity to play 18 holes with MS and also talked abouth the Redskins.

I hope it isn't true.

Shanahan was 24-24 in his last three seasons in Denver with no playoff appearances. That's something only Redskins fans can get excited about.

Shanahan's playoff record over the last ten years is 1-4. Again, that is something only Redskins fans can get excited about.

Shanahan is a retread. We need new blood.

What we need is a FO that does not involve ANY interference from Dan Snyder - that is the first step - after that I really am not worried because anything is going to be an improvement over what those 2 bozos have done here

I think that Snyder has now decided to bring in and support one of the best FOs in the NFL - Snyder will now support that FO and will not only let Allen do his thing as GM but also would love it if he picked a "flashy" HC like Shanahan

The new guys in charge here will get a chance to do what we all think they can do and if they do, Snyder will be there reaping the benefits BUT Snyder will take over if he does not see clear progress and soon

I think Zorn is notified by Allen (not Snyder) shortly after the game today
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I don't think you have to explain yourself. Anyone who's ever played a round of golf knows that after 4 hours and 18 holes, sometimes the conversation never goes beyond comments on the game. Golf is about getting away from the rest of life and spending a few moments in complete calm and peace — and, of course, having fun playing the game. The fact that he was willing to talk about the Redskins at all is significant, IMO.

I'm just jealous that you had a chance to play with our next HC :). That must have been awesome.

I'm just jealous he got to play at such a nice course.

I've been playing strictly at an exec. course for the last few months. I'm due for a long course.

Yes, not even to mention the course. I wish I would say I knew what that was like. :)

I just felt with 4 hours of talking you could provide more info then just ..."Hey guys Shanahan will be named sometime before Wed. I think we all knew that already. All the signs are pointing to Shanahan.

Dude, you played golf with the man. I'm proud of you. Come on here and say "hey I got to play golf with the man." Come on here and tell us what type of personality he is, was he a good golfer, was his wife nice to you also, but instead you came off like you had some inside intel and all you gave us was..... he'll be named sometime before Wed. Ok. Thank You.

I'll concede that I was a bit tired last night and was not adding right. So let me say that if the game is a 415pm game plus 3 to 3 1/2 hr game makes it about 7:30pm. I didn't take into account the 3 hour ride home. So if they show up around 11:30pm or midnight I doubt any announcement is made other then to say Zorn has been fired which we might hear about as early as 1am..... I'm guessing.

I presume we will hear something by 8 or 9am from the media with an announcement to be made around 10am in a presser.

My caviate...... I could be wrong. :)

Alright news flash.....

Another rumor is going around that when DS asked if the interview with Gray follows the Rooney Rule they contacted the FPA Fritz Pollard Association. Now the NFL is either instructing them to redo the interview with Gray or requesting. Not sure which. Also not sure if DS will honor the request if that's all it is. So Shanny being named may not occur Mon. as expected. Unless DS fires Zorn tonight, conducts an hour long interview with Gray on Mon. around 8am which still enables DS/Allen to be able to announce Shanahan at 9am and a presser sometime Mon.

Not exactly.

So included among the various e-mail messages we receive here at PFT headquarters was a message from ESPN P.R. responding to our characterization of Chris Mortensen's report during the 10:00 a.m. ET SportsCenter as requiring the Redskins to re-interview secondary coach Jerry Gray in order to comply with the Rooney Rule.

Said Kimberly Jessup of ESPN Communications: "This story was pointed out to me a short time ago and I wanted to provide some clarification. Mort did not officially report this morning that the Redskins will be required to comply with the Rooney Rule after [coach Jim] Zorn is fired. He had said that may happen and that Gray may need to be interviewed again, but nothing was officially reported otherwise a report would have been filed online to accompany it. I am bringing this to your attention so that you may correct the report."

They may require a reinterview. Which is idiotic, if they've already settled on Shanahan.

I had one of my best times in my life, I spoke for more than 4 hours about Redskins football, he just laughed and wish the best for next year, I'll be seeing him again in the new years party.

Goooo Skinsssssss

So your story is that Mike Shanahan is confirming to people he doesn't know on golf courses he's about to take over as Skins HC? Sure, that's almost as believable as believing someone posting it on the Internet...

You know honestly it is not like you are breaking in a secret. Nor is it like you are going out on a limb.
Not that I dont believe your story. I am just saying.

If you did experience this why not take a picture? You know you need proof in this world for people to believe such stories.
