Skins to win Super Bowl XXXIX

Post by Jake »

according to Michael Fabiano of CBS Sportsline (Pasquarelli's old stomping grounds... no wonder it crumbled to the ground when he was there... they're in a state of recovery now ROTFALMAO ). Pasquarelli could learn A LOT from Mike!

10. Which team will win Super Bowl XXXIX?

The Broncos are the only team to win back-to-back titles in the past decade, and three of the past four champs didn't qualify for the playoffs the previous season. Taking those facts into account, this columnist predicts that coach Joe Gibbs will lead the Redskins over the Indianapolis Colts for their fourth NFL title.

Also in the article:
3. What veteran offseason move will have the greatest Fantasy impact?

The deal that sent running back Clinton Portis to the Washington Redskins in exchange for cornerback Champ Bailey will have the greatest overall impact. Portis will remain one of the top five runners under the tutelage of coach Joe Gibbs, who depends on an effective ground attack to produce a potent offense.

Portis' presence in the backfield will keep opposing defenses honest, and in turn increases the value of Mark Brunell, Laveranues Coles and Rod Gardner. Brunell should have time to make his reads as defenses limit blitzes for fear that Portis will break off a huge run. This also limits the number of double teams Coles and Gardner will face, making them bigger threats in the passing game.

Portis will also boost the value of kicker John Hall, albeit in an indirect fashion. The Redskins offense should be potent, meaning plenty of field-goal and extra-point chances.

So THAT'S where Lavar's $6.5 million disappeared to, huh?(The reporter's pockets) He he.

I think it'll be Skins v. Broncos, though, in the Super Bowl.

A bit of throwback action and story lines à la "Pistons v. Lakers". (Okay, that MIGHT be a stretch - the Ponies ain't good enough. He he. )

Here's a little nugget for you fantasy geeks (self included) out there...

As the season approaches I think you will see very few fantasy "experts" (magazines, sites etc.) that list John Hall as a top 10 or even top 15-20 kicker. However, if you go back over the Gibbs era you will see his kickers historically score EXTREAMLY high for their position. Not to say you should spend a high pick on him but a late round flyer might get you a top notch kicker on the cheap.

I had John Hall last year and in my league, you got 1 point 20 yds or less, 2 points 21-30, 3 pt 31-40, 4 pts 41-50 and 5 pts for 51+.....John Hall made an ungodly number of 51+ yd kicks last year, he was the reason I was undefeated until the championship game.

Daddy don't play fantasy footbal
I'm not entirely sure I know what it is.
I do know one thing, though. If we get to the Big Game, we're gonna win it. Not because the other team is so bad, but because so many things have to go right just to get to that point.

Remember when Chip Lohmiller had more points than the Colts scored as a team in 91? That was crazy.

The Skins in the Super Bowl sounds just excellent! However, while I would like nothing more, I just don't see it. I'm expecting at the very least 8-8 this year. I wouldn't be suprised at a 9-7 or 10-6. Personally, I think that they're 3 years away from the big game. I think that all the tools are in place, but judging from last year, this team needs to learn how to win. Obviously with Gibbs back there will be a huge improvement. But it will take a little time. This year to become respectable, next year to become a threat, and the year after that to be awesome. It will take a little while for everything to come together.
All this being said, I hope I am totally wrong! :D
As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.
