GOTTA like that Ricky Williams.....

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Thanks for clearing that up Vet - I really did not know and I was so disapointed that he did not play in the NFL as well as I thought - you have cleared it up and I'm hopeful for him - he's still got a lot of ability

thanks again
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I haven't done too much research on it, so don't take what I've said for gospel, but that's the story that I read and what I've gathered from other people who are familiar with the whole story.

I love when people talk about marijuana like it was heroin.

Shows a true understanding of the drug.

Those same people usually wake up to 3 cups of coffee and end their day with 6 beers.

Obviously a practicing yogic Hindu is interested in nothing else but getting high. Ricky is the devil.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

I was badly informed about Ricky - hopefully he can continue to be a force on the field and I wish him well - I would love for the Dolphins to beat Belicheat's Pats

to set the record straight, I do enjoy a cup of coffee to start the day and do go through a 30 pack in less than a month - maybe less next year with Cerrato out of the picture

I do still think that using marijuana is not a problem at all and still have friends that enjoy it - I do think that abusing alcohol, drugs or selling drugs is wrong - just my conservative opinion

I wasn't trying to defend the drug 'industry' AT ALL.

I just find it almost twisted that the stigma attached to it is so misrepresented - especially in the US of A.

Gateway drug... blah, blah, blah... most kids have been hopped up on caffeine before they would ever even be exposed to marijuana. Now kids are pounding 'energy' drinks before they even know what a 'buzz' is.

I think Ricky is a very interesting dude. I think Ricky is really happy being Ricky, and I personally don't know what else should really matter.

My 2 cents

And SJ... my comments were not directed at you personally at all... I just see it all the time on these boards. To me there's a strong mix of a lack of knowledge and stereotyping at work...

no worries BH - appreciate the point

I guess I was feeling a little defensive - I was terribly wrong in what I had interpreted from reports about Ricky - it certainly sounds like he's a lot better person than I had been led to believe

I have a "friend" who smoked pot in the 70s and I agree with you completely. There are people who are "gateway" in that they are going to push the limits and keep going from one thing to a harder thing, but they are going to follow another path if pot isn't there. It's not the pot, er, so he tells me, he, yeah, that's it, hasn't smoked pot in almost 30 years now. But he never was interested in anything harder. The bottom line is the people I, er, he knew who went on would have anyway, that's who they were and there were lots he know who didn't and wouldn't. That was Kalamazoo in the 70s where my friend and I grew up. Pot was everywhere in school. Pot was a pathway drug for people on that path, it wasn't a gateway for people who weren't. So I heard...

SkinsJock wrote:where are you coming from - what does "arbitrarily criminal status" of marijuana have to do with anything - I am against alcohol abuse and drug abuse - I no longer use drugs but I still enjoy beer and wine and the occassional martini - I'm surprised that you think that someone who drinks and used to do drugs should feel a civic resposibility to "turn myself in" - to what purpose? - I never, ever, bought marijuana or cocaine because I was not all that into the effects of either - no big deal, certainly not worth giving anyone money for - I don't know anyone that sells drugs and never met anyone that I knew sold drugs - I guess I'm just very conservative about drugs and do not feel that marijuana should be legalized any more than it presently is for medical reasons

anyway - this thread is not about drugs - this is about Ricky Williams - Ricky Williams, in my opinion, abused drugs and was addicted - he may or may not be recovered, hopefully so, more power to him, BUT he wasted a part of his life and he let himself down

maybe it's just me but there's a difference in the meaning of abuse and use where it applies to alcohol and drugs

Where I'm coming from is knowing the history of why marijuana is illegal and why other, more harmful, drugs are not. That's what I meant by "arbitrarily illegal." And for you to recommend long prison sentences for anyone who "abuses" (who's the arbiter of that?) drugs, when you admit to having used, and possibly abused, drugs in your own past seems really hypocritical to me. Prison time is not what people with addictions need. Our prisons are already so overcrowded, that violent criminals have to be set free early just to make room for non-violent drug offenders.

I tried various drugs as a kid - I did a lot of other stupid things as a kid - I did not ever buy any drugs because I try to not spend any money on things that I don't like or need

I don't think I abused drugs but if you think I did based on what I posted, more power to you - I'm all for helping people that are addicted but I'm also for putting people in jail that deserve to be there - we have a legal system that leaves a lot to be desired from both a conservative and liberal point of view - I'm very conservative about crime and punishment

cheers - I'm kind of enjoying my stay here and while the arbitrary drug laws may bother some, they certainly don't bother me - I'm with the just say no group, been there, tried it, stupid stuff

btw - if we locked up everyone for trying drugs at any time in their lives we'd probably have the same place we have now

ANYWAY - this is about Ricky and I am looking for him to continue to be able to manage his life and to play a lot more footbal

As someone who smokes pot, its okay if you are functional, go to work, school, etc.

If you are being paid millions of dollars to play football and you would rather smoke, get fined/banned by the NFL, and get cut, you have a problem.

Although, i feel like drug policies are fascist anyway. You can show up drunk to your job every day and nobody will care, but if you smoke pot once within the last month and get tested, you're out.

Show up drunk working for me, and it's the last thing you'll ever do working for me.

Show up stoned or high working for me... ditto.

Though I completely agree that the laws are a complete misuse of government power, and waste of tax money.

Try showing up on anything less than sharp, informed and prepared form, let alone less than sober and clean, in my line of duty ...

... and you can irreparably damage your career, or may even end-up in jail due to causing damage (or even causing dead in some severe emergency circumstances).

Whatever people do in their PRIVATE lives, I respect and I do not judge. Being stupid in one's PUBLIC and PROFESSIONAL life is just that: STUPID.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
