Nobody is.....

Post by roybus14 »

talking about the Rooney Rule.... Shanahan is supposedly in talks and there were rumors of a Gruden/Allen reunion but nobody has said anything about the Rooney Rule???

I know everyone is filled with "glee" here over the "Wicked Witch of The West" resigning but are Allen and Snyder following the Rooney Rule? I can see where it's not on anybody's radar right now because a proven coach like Shanahan is available and this organization has suffered through alot of stuff over the past decade. But if the Rooney Rule is a rule, then I wonder if Allen and Snyder are going to follow it? Because the reports are that talks with Shanahan have begun but we've heard nothing about looking at other candidates.

I know, it's a tight situation with the rule right now because you have a proven SB winning HC available to help this franchise move forward....

I'm pretty sure that they've or will satisfy the Rooney rule. The NFL has already said that the Redskins were 100% in compliance.

I think Snyder spoke with Tony Dungy two weeks ago as mentioned by Tony on CBS that a certain team talked to him about being a front office type guy - but he didn't say who. HMMMMMM

What are you talking about? Check the Redskins Insiders blog and all of the rumor sites that were reporting this. Everyone's discussed the Rooney rule, and Goodell released some statement to the effect that Snyder has been communicating with the NFL through the whole process and they've complied with all of the rules.

Everyone's discussed the Rooney rule, and Goodell released some statement to the effect that Snyder has been communicating with the NFL through the whole process and they've complied with all of the rules.

Specifically:

Leaders of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, the group formed to promote diversity in hiring at all levels of the NFL, said they're satisfied that the Washington Redskins complied with the provisions of the league's minority interviewing requirement before Thursday's hiring of Bruce Allen as their general manager, Mark Maske writes.

"We're very satisfied," John Wooten, the chairman of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, said in a telephone interview. "They fulfilled it over 10 days ago."

Wooten declined to identify the minority candidate or candidates interviewed by the Redskins.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a written online discussion on the league's Web site: "The Redskins have been in contact with our office throughout the process and have followed the proper procedures of the Rooney Rule."

That's for the Allen hiring. You think that the Skins wouldn't have done the same for any talks with Shanahan? Come now.

;) No worries . . . it's not as though I care, I was just (honestly) wondering where this thread came from. It's like if someone came in today and said "How come no one has mentioned the fact that VINNY CERRATO JUST LEFT THE SKINS?!?!" Maybe not that bad. ;)
