An honest question about Vinny Cerrato

Post by MrUbiquitous#26 »

I'd like to say first that I'm not defending Cerrato, I definitely believe some poor decisions have been made the past few years(Jason Taylor trade for instance).

I know Cerrato has been with this team for about a decade now but officially the Cerrato era began when Gibbs left after the 07 season, when Snyder made him the VP of football operations, or just made him his right hand man, however you guys see it.

My question is, is it just me or has the team the past year and a half been going through growing pains as any team goes through when major personnel changes have been made? Since we have been performing well the past few weeks I'd thought this might be a golden opportunity to ask you guys.

If they continue to improve like this it's possible that Cerrato might have been getting somethings right, and perhaps JC might be the QB of the future. He might not be a world beater like Payton or Brees but he just might end up a Hasselback or a Palmer and that's definitely good enough to when a championship. What do you guys think?

Its not a stupid question or anything. I'm sure there is a case to be made that the Redskins should finish what they started with Zorn/Campbell. Give it another year. Try some stability for once.

I just kind of doubt that either ownership or the fans have the stomach for it.

I would absolutely be fine if Snyder keeps everyone in place for one more year, which includes Zorn, Campbell, etc... even Vinnie.

The ONLY thing I'd require is that Snyder and Vinnie quit looking at QBs in the draft, and look at Offensive Lineman, a strong side LB, a CB, and a RB...!!!

They'll have to figure out how Sherman Lewis and Z work together too.

Zorn was hired as an offensive coordinator originally, as all he'd every done is coach QBs...give the guy another year to figure this out, it seems like he's making progress. The team seems to be playing harder than any of the teams we've played in the past 6 weeks. For everything we blame coaches for, we MUST give them credit for that. They are somehow motivating these guys to play hard even with a lousy record. Pretty impressive actually.

The problem with this, though, is that Vinny / Danny don't appear to want JC back again. If there really were solid long-term plans I think we would have seen much more done for the offensive line this past offseason.

Vinnie Cerrato has over-stayed his welcome here - everything that these 2 have achieved here points to more mediocrity - we are now entering the era of change and while it may not have been very successful with the new party in power here in DC, this is the time to head in a new direction with this franchise

we need a GM that knows what he's doing - we do not need Cerrato - SEE YA
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Haven’t we seen this movie several times already? As soon as the pressure if off…the Skins start to play a little and give you a bit of hope for the future…but we knows how it ends. I’m not letting a win over the Raiders cloud the fact that our owner needs to get out of the way. I will always remember this year…it is/was the year that we found out for sure that DS is the one calling the shots…I heard the radio today that Randle El was still returning punt because that’s what the FO wanted….I came to the realization that everything in moot now until our owner gets out of the way…this question about Vinny is moot because it DS is making the decisions…and until he gets out of the way this franchise will never win on a consistent basis.

Right. Look, NFC East, which are the two teams without GMs and STRONG owners who contrantly meddle and make the FO decisions.

Which two NFC East teams will more then likely (at least one anyway, the other very close) to make the playoffs for the umpteenth year?

1. Eagles... great owner/GM/Coach/QB
2. Gnats... great owner/GM/Coach/QB

Bottom and not making playoffs:

1. Skins... meddlesome owner/No GM/Poor Coach/Ave QB
2. Pukes... meddlesome owner/No GM/Poor Coach/Ave QB

Is it any wonder why we constantly struggle?

Change all of the above factors and we may chance to be consistent.

HAIL!!

When the starters are all healthy, don't you think that Vinny and Snyder are going to force the coaches to play them? I mean come on guys...the guys who are playing right now are the one's competing for a job next year (and a Snyder paycheck). Once they have either, they move into the green room with the other overpaid players on this team. That IS the culture. The only way to change that culture is to get rid of Vinny...PERIOD

The cancer on this team lies with the attitude of a few players and that attitude stems from big money paid out by the GM and owner (although I fault Snyder less than I do Vinny)...which, by the way, if we have a capped year next year, this team is in a world of hurt.

I mean, in the past couple years, have you seen a runner run as hard as Ganther has in the last couple games? That's cause the guy is hungry. Vinny doesn't realize that most rookie running backs have that hunger. Vets with big salaries typically do not, and they have milage. Keep churning the backs through here. They're a dime a dozen.

I'm getting off topic, but the point is that Vinny does not know how to build a winner. It's not done with money and free agency. Get rid of him. Come on, this is the chance of a lifetime. The guy is on life support and we're giving him more oxygen.
Miss you 21

I agree that Cerrato has made some bad picks but for the most part.. I always like his picks... Just to name some, I wanted Sweed instead of Thomas, DAvis or Kelly...I wanted Winslow instead of Sean..

Well I have to say that our first round pick this year was immense. So full credit to the FO for drafting him.

There again we are playing him out of position most of the time , wonder who is to blame for that

The Redskins will have a fairly high draft pick this year - now that player will most likely be a very talented player but the only reason we were in a position to get that pick is because of the guys that assembled the other players and coaches for this franchise - why do they get credit for picking a good player but do not get the same attention for putting the franchise in this hole?

Vinnie Cerrato is on record as saying that he felt that the players that this team had on the field in those first weeks were capable of making the playoffs - now we hear that some here think these guys can get this franchise back into shape soon - we are where we are because of these 2 bozos and we are a bad team

DENIED.

So, what next?
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
