It's Dallas Week - How do we win!!!

Post by frankcal20 »

So people. I want to be realistic here. We CAN win but we have to play flawless football. We have a few things that could work for us in beating Dallas this coming Sunday:

* Pressure their RT - Colombo is out for the year or most of the year
* Attack their Dbacks with quick passes
* Have yet again a strong running game
* CB's need to stop Dallas' WR's

Of course, this could work with any team but these are area's where if we are really effective, we could win handidly. I watched their game yesterday and this is what GB did and won. What's your thoughts - and don't give the post "We won't win."

How do we win? Score more points than they do!
With the Cardinals reaching the Super Bowl, is Dan Snyder officially the worst owner in the league?

Green Bay played well against the Pukes because they have one of the largest and heaviest DLs in the NFL. It matched well

I am concerned about their OL but I am convinced that our defense will improve. The key to the game will be the usual suspects:

- Will Jason deliver the ball accurately and quickly?

- Will the receivers catch the ball?

Pretty simple if you ask me.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

After years upon years upon years of watching Redskins football, I have learned that the Win/Loss record means nothing nor how well or poorly the teams played last week. This is Redskins/Cowboys football.

Anybody sick of hearing "We want Dallas! We want Dallas!"? I've been to a handful of games in Dallas and I never once have heard Cowboys fans yell "We want the Skins! We want the Skins!" I just think it's a little old. Almost as old as people yelling "O" in the middle of the National anthem (News flash Skins fans, Baltimore is the mortal enemy of any DC native).

I'd rather beat the Eagles rather than the Cowboys any day of the week.

It's a bit old, but how can you say you'd rather beat any other team than Dallas. Give them 'boys a good whippin' any day. I guess I just grew up with the thought, "My two favorite teams are the Redskins and whoever is playing Dallas."

We need to both of our teams to be great teams before the phrase "We Want Dallas!" should be uttered. I mean, it was worthwhile when the playoffs were on the line a couple years ago when Parcells was coach, but not now.

As for how we beat the Cowboys:

#1 Stop the running game. Any team that runs the ball effectively has the upper hand in a football game.

#2 Protect the QB. JC needs to feel comfortable in the passing game. I think our WRs our better than their secondary if JC can make the throws.

#3 Create turnovers. Despite giving up big plays, those two turnovers by the Broncos kept the Skins in the game. Without the turnovers, the Broncos were in teh driver's seat.

#4 Run, run, run!!! This is NFC East football. I'd like to see at least 30 run plays.

#5 Pressure Romo. He makes mistakes when faced with pressure, like most QBs. Don't let him be too comfy in his new house.

Ok, so most of these are no-brainers, but once you aggregate all the complex details and game plans, it's really a basic game. Win the battles in the trenches and most of these will work out in our favor.

There is no team I'd rather beat than Dallas, however, right now I don't think I'd be chanting "We want anyone" maybe the Browns but not many teams. We've got way too many areas we need to improve in before becoming cocky.

I think my hatred for the Girls has a lot to do with the whole "America's Team" crap. I'm an American and they ARE NOT my team. I've been a Skins fan for as long as I can remember and to have the Girls thrust in the media constantly just makes me sick.

Hail to the Redskins!!!

Beating Dallas is better than beating any other team on our schedule. I ALWAYS pull for them to lose so I can watch the people who are Cowboys "fans" yet have never even been to Texas sulk around. Oddly most of those people are usually Yankees and Lakers fans also.

No way could I ever get sick of the phrase. "We want Dallas" is one of the classic moments in Redskins history. That's why it lives on, and why Dallas fans don't do it.

I just think it's a little old. Almost as old as people yelling "O" in the middle of the National anthem (News flash Skins fans, Baltimore is the mortal enemy of any DC native).

Not after the team was moved away and many fans became Orioles fans for several decades.

I'd rather beat the Eagles rather than the Cowboys any day of the week.

It's not about being cocky. It's about being HUNGRY to play football and being even HUNGRIER for a win. I know I can't wait for this game. It could be the highlight of the year.

Changed this post...there was no need for what I had posted as it didn't pertain to the topic. Sorry about that. As for how to win this weekend: I think our running game has to continue to be successful. Allow Betts to carry the ball hopefully 20-30 times. JC has to deliver his passes on time and accurately, I know that's a stretch but stranger things have happened.

Definsively, I'll agree we've got to get pressure on Romo. If we can keep him under pressure he'll struggle for sure.

Man, how nice would 2 Ws in a row be.

Okay, back to the subject at hand- three keys are the most important

Pass Pro - Ware and their DLine are tougher than Denver's. We need good blocking as well as good assistance by TE's and RB's

Pressure on Romo - Tony is good for a sack fumble and two int's a game if there is enough pressure. Also, when Romo looks dumb, they all look dumb

Don't turn the ball over, run and control the clock

Can't stand the Cowboys, but personally I'd take a win vs the Eagles or Giants over Dallas any day.

I was talking with a friend about this the other day. Would love to see the NFL realign the divisions for more true regional matchups.

I've been to Philly and NYC. I know people there. We can drive there. Dallas might as well be Ottawa.

Dallas is the enemy and I don't care if they're in the AFC West. They've been our most hated rival before they were even officially in existance. THEY ARE THE DEVILS.... :explode:

I hate Dallas more then any team in this league.

How do we win? Well if our team plays like they did against Denver? We stand a very good chance.

I would keep Seller lined up on the left side of Campbell to help out blocking Ware. Essentially double team Ware for most of the night.

The keys to the game for me are.

Establish the run and stop the run. Pressure Romo and keep a mixture of zone and man in coverage.
Most importantly keep Demarcus Ware in check. That guy can cause all kinds of havoc in the back field. He also gets the crowd hyped up. We need a quiet Dallas crowd as much as possible. So a double team of Levi Jones and Sellers should help keep him at bay.

I wouldn't mind seeing Seller's roll out to the left and then come crashing back in on Ware to give a chip block. That could set things up later in the game for if we rolled Seller's out again, he may slow his rush down, expecting Seller's to crash down again and could leave him open in the flat.

That sounds good to me.

We will see. How this coaching staff plans to block Ware is a good indication of whether or not this coaching staff is progressing.

If we see Ware going one on one I think that is a total lack of preparation on the coaches part. We have to keep Ware contained to stand a chance.

I am pretty confident Sherm will plan ahead for Ware. I do not think a RB alone can block Ware. It will take a combination of Levi hitting him then Sellers or Portis cutting him.

I think the MVP of the Denver win was Buges. What he did with what he had to work with was phenomenal. I took three things from the game.

1) Maybe the issue really is that we were just holding on to the old farts on the OL too long. Look what Bugel did even with guys who hadn't been here long. I mean they weren't the Hogs, but they were all right. It was a throwback to the days that he built great lines on low round and even undrafted picks.

2) JC sucks. Not a little, he blows chunks. He missed so many wide open receivers with time just not being an issue. He's an NFL quarterback, you hit open receivers. Good bye.

3) It looked bad for Portis that Betts did so well. You have to wonder. But since Betts played behind a line playing better then they did for Portis it's less definitive then JC who sucked playing for any line. Yes, he scrambled and made some plays, but QB starts with hitting freaking open receivers! THEN you make MORE plays. You don't miss all the open recievers and just make up for some of it with scrambles.

Up until their impressive win against the Broncos, I was prepared to ONLY Hognosticate two more times in favor of the Redskins the rest of the season.

For which two games? @ DALLAS and VS. DALLAS.

As for how should we beat them...

Buges to me has never been the problem. He has proven before that he knows what he is doing. I will always love Buges.
I have to think the new addition of Levi has a lot to do with the improvement. Levi Jones and Betts provided some much needed excitement to this struggling squad. Buges has always provided the good lessons I just wondered if these guys were listening.

As far as JC goes, I just hope he minimizes the damage. Keep handing off to Betts if he is gaining. Drain the clock as much as possible and score.
Slow low scoring affair is what I am hoping for. Field goals are fine with me at this point.
