No thanks. An improvement over the current situation but not a great winner. I seem to recall that Bruce Allen already rejected once an offer from Dan Snyder. There are MUCH better people than Bruce Allen as GMs.
These two accomplished nothing after the Supebowl inherited from Dungy and a great defense run by M. Kiffin. Things went downhill with both after that season.
Personally I think their track records are pretty good, but besides that they have a great working history. I can't think of a better scenario than having a veteran team in the NFL, a HC who runs the WCO which we've tried to transition to and a GM who's had experience in the league.
Agree, and on top of that, they did it with owners who don't spend any money.

I don't really understand what you're saying here. Tampa WAS Gruden's second stop. He did extremely well there and in Oakland with the talent he was given.
Miss you 21

Dan Snyder is never going to be completely uninvolved, no owner is ever completely hands off. This would be a great step towards what everyone wants. JLC is a moron, however and just like his puppet JReid he has a complete inability to name any source. The only reason they are popular is because they generate more short articles than anyone else for a Redskins Nation that is unquenchable.
There is no doubt in my mind that Snyder is going to stay involved because there is no way that he's going to let someone come in here and get this team on track without his being able to claim that he was a part of the re-build. His EGO will not let him get out of the way.
I just think that anyone that thinks that there is even the slightest chance that this team is going to be competitive again UNTIL Snyder is not involved in the selection of coaches or players is both delusional and is going to be on the list of Suckers for Snyder My frustration lies in the fact that Snyder has had 10 years to see that the various ways that he has tried to get this franchise back on track has not worked and it would be interesting to hear why anyone would think that bringing in Gruden and Allen (or anyone) would have a chance of making this franchise become a successful team again - I will admit that I'm sure these 2 guys would love the money but I just fail to see how continuing to do what we have done for the last 10 years is going to suddenly change from almost guaranteeing mediocre results
I want this franchise to be able to put a competitive product on the field and I do believe that this could be done in a short period if Snyder ONLY assists and supports the guys that he brings in.
We have no real chance at success IF Snyder is going to continue to be in charge of this team is all I'm saying here - he can make this work by bringing in a GM and letting him get this franchise back on track - but I have a hard time believing that his EGO will let him "let go"
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Unfortunately this is all correct. It's a shame that as fans we are reduced to waiting for Snyder to wise up or give up, especially when neither seems likely.
Wrong thinking is punishable.
Right thinking will be as quickly rewarded.
You will find it an effective combination.

Yeah, and I'm sure he would let that prevent him from taking a coaching job he wants.
His contract with ESPN for staying on with MNF is because the four letter network knows he is the best they've had in a LONG time, but don't think for a second that contract would prevent him from taking a HC job!

I agree. There are a number of coaches who signed extensions then gave it up to go coach. Last one I remember was Parcells. He signed then left when Dallas came calling.
It means that if you take a coaching job, it will have to be far more lucrative. Great bargaining position to be for Gruden, that's all.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
someone else started a thread about this - claiming that this means that Gruden will NOT be coach of the Redskins - I don't know why people don't think before they post
I agree that IF Snyder wants to bring in Gruden as the next coach, no ESPN contract is going to stand in his way for very long
I just hope that we get a GM first AND if that guy wants Gruden then Snyder will find a way to make that happen

Things aren't all or none. If Vinny gets booted, that's a big step. Although I don't like Danny because how he's treated the fans, to say that a new GM and a new coach isn't going to change things because Danny is here is hyperbole.
The biggest flaw Snyder has had is trusting such an idiot like Vinny. I wouldn't be surprised if a convincing GM could get him to see the light on modern personnel management.
A new GM is a start - finding one that is willing to do what Snyder wants is not going to be that difficult
BUT, having a new GM that has full control to get this franchise back on track is PRICELESS

Danny already stated that he's going to want to still have say in the personnel decisions.

When? After Marty? Because he certainly hasn't said it since.

Skinsjock, don't be so negative man. Aren't we all kinda past frustration by now? I don't like Snyder playing fantasy football either, but for anyone to say he is just trying to make money is fooling themselves. The guy truly wants this team to win and he spends money trying to get that done. It obviously isn't working. He can turn the corner and realize that he in fact isn't the best guy to be making personnel decisions. He's a smart guy, but he's got little man syndrome IMO. That doesn't mean that he won't figure it out. Let's all just hope Cerrato goes bye bye. If that happens, Snyder will at least be showing us that he doesn't think it's just been bad luck.
Dan Snyder has the "potential" to be a great owner for us for the next 40 years. I got faith that he will figure it out. Of course, the fans showing him thru the pocketbook how disatisfied they are with the status quo will help him figure it out quicker
I was reading somewhere, I think ProFootballTalk that he re-upped because some teams were iffy on letting him in on meetings and stuff if he would be potentially be coaching against them next season. So he re-upped to kind of quiet the chatter down on that. Also, I think his original deal would have been over after this season so they wanted to make sure he didn’t go anywhere else.

I don't know the quote is, but I read it in the past 4-6 weeks. Take it for what its worth.
