Thursday Night Kickoff
Hey guys I don't have a link here, and I hope that this is posted in the right section, Did anybody see this program before the 49ers and Bears game? Rich Eisen and Jason La Canfora were talking about the Redskins and sources around the league are saying that Jon Gruden and Bruce Allen are coming to the Redskins at the end of the season.

God I hope so...
Some people are unsatisfied with the WCO but it would be good to have the remaining personnel in basically the same system. Not only that but Bruce Allen and Jon Gruden have a great working relationship.
Of course, Allen even has Redskins ties.
Now Allen didn't just blow everyone away in Tampa Bay, there were certainly some mis-steps but look at his drafting history: (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/t ... _draft.htm) He was constantly attempting to build the line and using his full allotment of picks rather than trading them.
He also brought in T Luke Petitgout, DE Kevin Carter, LB Cate June, TE Jerramy Stevens, DT Ryan Sims, RB Warrick Dunn and others. I'd be really pleased to have Gruden (a very good young coach with experience to build on) and Allen (lot of experience too and a great relationship with Gruden.)

Other than Snyder selling the team, this would be the next best scenario, given Snyder stays out of their way.

No thanks. An improvement over the current situation but not a great winner. I seem to recall that Bruce Allen already rejected once an offer from Dan Snyder. There are MUCH better people than Bruce Allen as GMs.
These two accomplished nothing after the Supebowl inherited from Dungy and a great defense run by M. Kiffin. Things went downhill with both after that season.

you said it, Jake
I think anything that involves Snyder not having ANYTHING to do with this team will be a benefit
I just have no faith that Gruden and Allen (or even Parcells, himself), can come in here and make a change IF Snyder is still involved, in even the smallest way.
As many of us here have stated, there will be many here and in Redskins nation, that think a new coach (like Gruden) and a new manager (like Bruce Allen) can just come in here and "things will be fine" - trust us, THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN - Snyder is the root of all of our problems and until he let's go completely NOTHING really changes except that some really dumb fans will jump on the bandwagon and claim this is a good move
BE WARNED - you are setting yourself up for ridicule if you support any move (or hire) that has Snyder somewhat involved with this franchise - we should start a list of idiots for anybody that 'supports' anything that involves Snyder 'helping' or being involved in any way
we need a change of culture and we do not need anything that involves Snyder, AT ALL

You're putting a different spin on this - let me make it clearer - IF Snyder is involved with anything to do with the players or coaches, then really NOTHING has changed here - and you can be the first on the "idiots list" if you want to say that you think that will change what is happening around here
I would love for Snyder to sell the team but that is not really possible - all I'm saying is that the only chance we have to turn things around here is for him to stay out of the managing or running of this franchise
I would like for him to not even hire the new GM but that is not really possible - I also do not think he should hire a GM and then tell the GM what to do - that is what we have here - Snyder possibly pulling in a GM and then saying "here's your coach!"
get real - that is what this guy has been doing for 10 years and now you think that things are going to be different
are you kidding me - if you want to say this is a positive step then you basically are saying that Snyder knows what he's doing - welcome to the top of the list - BUT WAIT, I'll wager that you will not be the only one there for very long
you are not on the list yet Vet, but, you can still be there if you think this (possible move) is a good move and that this team will improve with Snyder still running things
If Snyder does this and continues to control and manage this franchise, we still have troubles
there are still a few of us that will not buy into what this idiot is doing - this is what we were afraid of - that he would find a way to get out of this mess and still stay in charge - just do the same thing with different people

Sooooo... for years, JLC has been an agenda-laden, venom-spewing, anti-Redskins rumor monger... and now all of a sudden, because he got this sweet gig with NFLN, he's a reliable source.
I hope it's true, but... it's JLC...

list of idiots
I think that calling it an "idiot list" is maybe a little harsh
what I'm thinking about doing in the near future - there is almost half a season to go, for crying out loud, is start a thread and we will see who thinks that this team can continue down the same path with any degree of success - we can call it something like the "suckers for Snyder list"
What we'll endeavor to find out is a list of who here thinks that we have any chance for turning this team around if Snyder remains involved with managing the franchise. We'll even go so far as to allow for the high probability that Snyder is going to be involved with selecting the guy in charge or even in the case that he decides to keep Cerrato involved in ANY capacity
- this list will only be for those here who think that this franchise will improve if Snyder is at all involved with selecting the coach or players

Already it is starting. The rumors, the "great impaired wisdom" of the experts about who will come to the Redskins. I saw another rumor that Chester Taylor of the Vikings was going to be a Redskin next year. It seems to me that these "factual" rumors are started by agents wanting to jack up their clients salary and likewise their own commissions. Also, I would not believe JLC if he said it was Friday the 13th.

I'm like.. who cares? Matter of fact, rumor or not, I don't want to know about it. Seriously at that... We are our worst enemies you know, me included.. EVERY year we go into the season with great hopes just because we love our team so much. I'm taking a different approach to next season: Danny's gonna do whatever he wants anyways, all I'm gonna do is support the team as I always have but I'm not gonna run my mouth like I do every offseason. Frankly you guys said it best.. Danny Cerrato still here, nothing changes.

actually lpj - fact is, IF Snyder not only gets rid of Cerrato and the coaches and then appoints a GM and then is involved with the selection of a HC and assists in the acquisition of players - NOTHING changes
we all (including myself) will be very supportive as usual - but there will also be a lot more really devoted Redskins fans like a few here who will be saying the love & support for our Redskins is still very important - BUT ... NOTHING has chaged and we are looking at another year of hoping and praying but really knowing it's just the same as it was before the last 2 years
There is no hope for this franchise with Snyder involved in the selection of coaches and/or players - he is an abject failure at running an NFL franchise and the best thing that could happen is for him to leave

Yeah right. Of course NFL Network hired this guy to make up stories on his own personal whims. Give me a freaking break.
Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about Gruden, but I have a suspicion he'd be a step up from Zorn or Spurrier and hopefully at least as good as Gibbs II. I'm probably more excited to hear the rumors about Bruce Allen. Even if he's just an okay GM it would be better than what we have now.

Give you a freaking break? The fella has history. So, what's the problem? You think that he's suddenly "reliable"? NFLN has screwed up before. Bottom line, I don't find him a "reliable" reporter of the truth. Never was... he has a long history of running with innuendo and rumor and reporting it as fact... why would that change? Just because he got a big gig? That approach may be great for a professional pot-stirrer like Riggo... but JLC wants to call himself a journalist. Whatever.

- as Barnum once said "there's a sucker born every minute ..."
I'm not sure what is going to unfold here as these final 2 months pass but I'll wager that Snyder will have a "package" ready - this indeed could be a bunch of R&D to see what the reception is - i think that he will try and see how best to "position" the product before he unveils the latest iteration of "How to make people continue to buy what you're selling after 10 years of delivering mediocrity"

Speculation will be RAMPANT.

True in EVERY sense. He counts on his captive market to respond to his next stunt.
Those of you who feel that he is floating names through sources who, in turn, feed journalists, are RIGHT !!!
He already tried this technique with Fassel. He floated his name and when the reaction was negative, he turned to Zorn. BECAUSE his mindset is MARKETING and costumer "satisfaction" with the launch of every re-packaged product.
Fortunately, many fans have seen through the snake oil vendor. He will not get many people back unless REAL CHANGE is effected.

Personally I think their track records are pretty good, but besides that they have a great working history. I can't think of a better scenario than having a veteran team in the NFL, a HC who runs the WCO which we've tried to transition to and a GM who's had experience in the league.
People learn from mistakes, look at Bill Belichick who shined in his second chance, look at Pete Carrol... giving a guy a second chance seems like a higher percentage bet than going after someone new.
