Who should be the #3 reciever?

Post by Arrington56 »

I would like to see Taylor Jacobs in there as the #3. Thrash has experience but Jacobs can be much better and needs to develope this year.

Jacobs hasn't proven himself and last year Thrash dropped a lot of balls for Philly in big games. McCants is proven in the Red Zone and I think he should be #3.

Jacobs was injured all last year but looked good in preseason. He is back at 100% now and should be competative. He has good size and speed. He just needs a chance to play.

McCants is very effective near the goal line and should be brought in for those situations. But Jacobs would be better in the open field I believe.

I don't even know why we got Thrash.

I think were all assuming that Gardner will be #2.... but that might not be the case.... JG said.... EVERYONE will have to compete for there job..... I don't think any of the WR are guaranteed to start except maybe Coles because of his overall natural ability to play the position.... Gardner Could very likely be the number 3 WR or even possibly #4.... I mean I don't see much of a difference between Gardner, Thrash, or McCants when it comes to what they've shown all of us..... each has there strengths and weaknesses.......

True, but Gardner is more talented and should get more opportunities this year with the pressure off the QB. But if he doesn't contribute we should defenitely trade for a DL.

Thrash is a great special teams player. He runs better routes than Gardner. I love the competition at this position. Inside sources say that the coaches are really impressed with Taylor Jacobs so far.

LC's toe is still a concern, we may need all of these guys.

I'm glad to hear Jacobs is ahead. I don't think I realized how serious LC's toe was.

Well if he's more talented, he hasn't shown it on a consistent basis at this level....... I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that he works out... but something inside tells me, what we've seen is all that he is....

Jacobs is inproving with time Thrash will have a locker room presents and be good on ST but DMac has a habit of getting open when needed so I'd go with DMac until Taylor is ready

I'm hoping that jacobs becomes the number three reciever. He was freakin amazing at florida and was hurt all last year. If he stays healthy i'm sure he will turn some heads. Gibbs said that he was really impressed with jacobs after the first mini camp so that could be an indication of where he is leaning.

I think the first 3 recievers should be Coles, D Mac, and Taylor Jacobs third.. Not to take anything away from Rod Gardner, I just feel hes going to have to share alot of time with Taylor Jacobs HTTR

Let's not forget Thrash out of that bunch.... they didn't bring him back to not be involved.... IMO

6 Td's last year and 2 the year before, 48 rec. for 616 yards in his short career doesn't exactly qualify him as "proven". I would like either Jacobs or McCants over Thrash. The young guy's have long careers ahead of them, Thrashs next stop is retirement. McCants showed he has really good hands and he's the best backup for Gardner. Jacobs had that injury so he had a short season, but 1 TD with only 3 catches ain't bad.

DMAC!!! is the defintely the man! for the #3 slot! For crying out loud he might give Gardner competition for the #2. He is a sure handed WR who had 6 Tds last year! He was a big impact player! I look for Taylor to be our #4 WR he added 10LBS of muscle this offseason and has a lot to prove as he was highly touted out of college! we already know what we are getting in James Trash oops I mean Thrash as a WR! I except Trash to be a Special Teams player KR/PR!

why the need to insult him? isn't that what an opposing fan would say?

Thrash needs to be number 3 with McCants at number 2, unless Gardner can start catching. Gardner dropped to many balls last year. He didn't drop his passes because of blocking schemes. He dropped balls that hit him in his chest. He also dropped balls that hit his hands when they weren't even a foot from his body. You gotta make those catches to be a number two man.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but he dropped at least two balls for every game we played last year. McCants.....I know he didn't get thrown to as much as Gardner, but he came through 99% of the time. Remember that two point conversion against the Giants at FedExField. Ramsey zipped that ball to him and he jumped so the ball hit him square in the chest. That way he wouldn't have dropped it. Gardner would just drop it whether he would jump or not.

I know Gardner can play better then what he showed last year. He played very well under Marty and the first year of Spurrier. I have not forgotten about that. Either way I will be watching him in the preseason. If he keeps dropping passes then he needs to go and let McCants take a shot at it. If he doesn't drop them then we will have one of the best wide reciever corps in the league.

The third receiver should be Jacobs (if the reports of him playing well are true) to the opponent's 20 yard line. Then they should put in DMac.

I still dont know why we got Thrash. Cliff Russell, DMac and Jacobs are all likely better than he is. Chad Morton is a better kick returner.

If Coles's foot turns for the worse there is depth at the position. That is the good news. The bad news is that if Coles goes down, our receivers are below average at best. Other than TO none of our opponents have great wide receivers either though so maybe its not a big deal.

The #3 receiver... McCants. Solid receiver. So much like Monk I could just... Well... I'm excited!!! Coles has got to be the #1. His talent and work ethic demand it. As far as #2, I still like Gardner. He was drafted in here for a reason. Yeah, like alot of you, I wasn't happy with his production last year either. But then again, I wasn't happy with alot of the players last year and I firmly believe that most of it had to do with a lack of faith in their coach, their gameplan or the ability to do anything with it. Basically... A losing effort to a losing season. I don't think anyone of those players had much confidence in the coach, the "plan" or themselves maybe for that matter last season.
I figure... If life is all about the choices you make... Then I choose Redskin football, beer and hot wings!!
