It's time I give in
Ok. I took a full day to review my thoughts to make sure what I felt last night was the same as today. Here it is:
Jason Campbell should not play any more this season. He is not fit for the current Washington Redskins.
There - I said it. And let me tell you why. I think that he is just not going to ever be an effective QB in the WCO. In listening to the guys last night and some today break down his play, they nailed it. Gibbs brought in JC to be Doug Williams not Steve Smith or Joe Montana. We've got to get someone in here who can just get rid of the ball as fast as possible. It can't be Todd Collins. With our O line, he'll be done by the end of the 1st QTR.
I really feel confident that Jason Campbell can go somewhere else that doesn't run the WCO and be an effective QB. He's just going to need a season to get his mind right and get back to the basic's again instead of constantly thinking of everything that's going on with him.
Feel free and unload, laugh whatever....But know that i've given in.

Praise the lord, and the truth will set you free!
I've been wanting to see Chris at LB for a long time. His speed and knack for the QB have been a pleasant surprise. Plus it frees Orakpo up to do what he's best at...wreck'n heads on the line.

This decision should have been made by Zorn a while back. I understand that TIME was needed to find out whether JC could develop and adjust to the WCO. As painful as the results are, I understand the process and the result.
My main beef is and has been consistently different:
If the experiment failed, did you pack a parachute? Did you hire a backup who could actually play if JC was not the solution?
No, they did not. They went on a prayer and it was not answered.
Look Frank, we have NOBODY to start. Some will argue Todd should start but if he does, he will face many of the same problems. the fundamental premise is that this Front Office has left the team without ANYBODY who can start.
I really feel that they will be shifting back and forward between JC and TC for the rest of the season with predictable results.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
We all have seen many examples of players here who have not suited our team or made the team better - I put this all on the guys who are in charge. They find "players" but in a lot of cases not necessarily players that suit the team, the system or make the other players around them better
Why is Taylor suddenly a force again for Miami
Why is Campbell looking like he's a rookie QB
What's with Thomas, Kelly and Davis
Was it not a huge stretch to imagine that an offensive tackle who was badly out of shape and had not played in the NFL for 4 years would be able to start in his first year back
we need a GM

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Well, JC was Gibbs draft pick and wasn't running the WCO. It happens a lot, just a lot more since we can't hold on to a coach more than 2 years.
...any given Sunday....

Jason had success in college with the WCO, I thought that's why they brought in a WCO type guy. JC can be good, right now he looks like crap but what he needs to be good, we don't have. I am the first guy to admit to anti-JC17 campaign but right now, lol, he's our best chance at a high draft pick next year.

JC had success with Rinny Brown and Cadillac Williams behind him. The team Strength was fear of the run. If opposing defenses are focusing on the run game, then of course the passing game will excel, moreso than it should.

Ah, this very well explains the 6-2 start last season. I remember being excited a couple of years ago when we got Zorn at helm and knowing that JC17 had success in WCO. THis piece of info would've been helpful LoL.

Exactly. I think I had a similar debate with SkinsFreak a while back. At Auburn, JC had two running backs that were drafted in the top 10. The focal point of the Auburn offense was Ronnie Brown and Cadillac and that is what defenses keyed on. During their undefeated season, Auburn actually ran the ball more than they threw. It was the Cadillac/Brown show and there was little pressure on JC to win games.

Welcome aboard Frank....Keep in mind Gibbs won with Rypien and when he left Pettibon hired ROD DOWHOWER to install WCO with Rypien ...we all remember those results ---Same situation now...like some said earlier...square peg-round hole

I have long been critical of Jason Campbell as a quarterback. He reminds me of Brian Leftwich, slow reads, slow progressions, failure to see open receivers and not accurate enough. He has enough potential (God, I hate that word) that he continues to get opportunities and support that would be denied to others.
As much as the professionalism and personality of the man impresses me, he will go the way of Leftwich and become a journeyman quarterback with great potential, going from team to team before disappearing from the NFL.

If he does become a free agent at the end of the year, I don't think he'll be on the market long. I think there are enough people who understand that he hasn't been put in a situation to win here and that he has enough talent to win in this league under the right situation. I could see him end up in a town like Carolina, Houston, Buffalo or even Minnesota.

I disagree. I think JC has been put in a good position to win here in Washington. Yes, there have been times when the offensive line was not performing well. But in three and a half years of starting, Campbell has seen enough protection from his line for enough games over the course of enough seasons, that if he had the talent to make it work, I think we would have seen it by now.
How many times has he dropped back, been under no pressure, and completely whiffed on an open receiver?
How many times has he been given the ball with 2 minutes left in the game, down by a score, with the offensive weapons at his disposal to make it happen, only to choke?
I used to think those things were fixable. Maybe for some QBs they are. But then you watch him make the same blunders week after week, month after month, and (yes) year after year. Campbell may find a good career as a journey backup player, but I doubt he'll find a #1 spot on any other team in the league. Like Patrick Ramsey, he may even need to count himself lucky if he can land a #3 spot with a team. Time will tell.

I know alot of people "blame" Gibbs for JC but isn't this why Gibbs drafted him to be his big armed QB behing a solid line and running game??

I just don't see the point. You're going to put Todd Collins behind this offensive line?
I have no problem with the team going after a new QB in the offseason. Let the new head coach have some input.

Agreed Riggo and just my opinion, but shouldn't the HC put together his own team of coaches as well????? I mean, isn't that how it's done around the league or is it common for owners to dictate who will be the support system for a HC? I honestly don't know the answer personally.
