Vikings @ Steelers

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Vikings @ Steelers

Post by Deadskins »

The refs just made a bogus call that could well have cost the Vikings the win. During the go ahead TD pass to Sidney Rice late in the 4th, they called a Vikings lineman for tripping on a chop block, negating the score on what would have been a 97 yard drive. Two plays later, Favre is stripped and the Steelers return the fumble for a TD.

But the Vikes return the ensuing kickoff for a TD and a ref gets plowed over by a Viking. A little payback, but it won't help them on the scoreboard.

I didn't think that was a trip either...looked like a nice whiff on the chop.

Not only "a" Viking, but the same player that the tripping call went against. I thought it was a good call...lets see if the league fines him for the hit on the ref...it looked blatant to me...but I’m sure he'll say he thought it was a player.

I think I hate the Steelers and their fans right now almost as much as Baltimore and its fans — that is to say, just below the 3 NFC East teams. I would love to see Pittsburgh's season fall apart, or at least have the smile wiped off of their WRs faces.

If you don't mind me asking why would you hate the Steelers and their fans?

I wont answer for him, but two reasons for me. 1) Because they play in the same city as the Pittsburgh Penguins. 2) because at least here,"professional" football has been in a slump for a few years, the Steelers are all of a sudden the hip team's bandwagon to jump on like the Red Sox.

Nice to have the real Brett Favre back btw.

Adrian Peterson has literally the perfect body for a tailback... power, speed, and agility. That was freaking awesome.

I was laughing at the announcers when they said they didn't think that was a trip. You would have to be blind or just have a hatred of the Steelers to think that wasn't a trip.

The lineman went for the chop block and missed. The defensive player tried to jump over the Vike lineman and would have cleared easily, but the OL stuck his leg up to trip the guy. It wasn't an obvious trip and I'm surprised it was caught but it was the 100% correct call. I bet if you asked the guy after the game he would sheepishly admit that he was trying to trip the defender.

Now I don't know why the Vikings don't challenge the strip/fumble/TD, beacuse Favre had pumped on that play and never pulled the ball back to his body. The ref might have ruled it a tuck rule, "incomplete pass". You never know with the stupid tuck rule! I would have thrown the red flag!

The holding call that the Vikings LT got hit with on Harrison was a bad call. When I first saw it, it looked like a hold. Harrison went down like a hold. But the replay show the LT just pushd him to the ground by his shoulder pad. Unfortuanately, if an OL puts a passrusher on the ground, he is taking a chance of getting a flag. It doesn't matter if it is completely clean block (ask Raybach - he must lead the leauge in holding calls that should never have been called), if you plant a passrusher, there is a pretty good chance you are getting a yellow hankie!

But the tripping call was dead, nuts, accurate!
