Looks like there are more "neggies" jumping ship this week.

Believe it or not, I saw some promise in the Collins-led team.

Consider the following:

1) Zorn took five weeks too long to pull Lionel Richie from under center.

2) The QB was already playing behind a makeshift Oline to begin with. Jason fought his way to ZERO (0) points. Behind the same line, Collins led the team to SIX (6), with as much preparation as I had to start for the Redskins this week.

3) Collins' quick strike to WR #89 reminded me that Santana Moss still plays for this team, and looked like himself for the first time since 2007, when (guess who?) Collins was QB.

4) Collins under center was an immediate confidence boost to the rest of the offense. If not for questionable play calling, they could have made a run.

5) We are a desperate team, with nothing to lose, and a Divisional powerhouse coming up to play next week. With Todd practicing a full week with the first string, we have a better shot than with JC under center again.

Becasue he wanted to lay to rest any speculation that he will be fired mid-season.

Not sure if we watched the same game. Collins was worse than Campbell - including the first pass to Moss, he was 6-14. It wouldn't matter if Peyton Manning was playing, this offense would still suck. The big issue is at the O-line, not the QB. They can play Collins every game the rest of the season, the results won't improve unless Oline improves.

Skins had 23 minutes of possession... so if anyone blames this all on the D, you're crazy (don't know if anyone has, haven't read through the posts, but know some have in past games)... when they are on the field for that long, it is just absurd... i feel sorry for them as this schedule turns from cake to near impossible for the Skins... 2-9 (just looking at the next 5 games) is completely realistic...

as for Collins, I say he should start... he had better accuracy, and if he has more snaps with the first team, I am sure he will be better... evidence is in the two throws to Moss (one by Campbell and one by Collins), and Collins threw it only where Moss could catch it, and he did...

One thing's for sure. You can NOT go back to Campbell after this. He's been through enough and any change right now is at least worth trying. The bottom line is the Skins simply don't have enough playmakers on offense, and having no O-line stability magnifies that shortcoming by about 10.

For the first time this season, following the first snap of game 1, I was excited to watch a game through the end, and I felt that homer sensation I've felt in years past.

Did you not hear the collective roar of the crowd when LR was benched in favor of TC? He's no Peyton, but, in his awfulness, is far better-prepared than LR to run this offense...whatever it might be.

I agree, we need major Oline overhaul, but, right now, behind our leaky line, I'd rather go with the journeyman than the QB that can't play well in A FRIGGIN' CONTRACT YEAR!!! Who does that?

I lived through '58 and '59 and '60 and '61. I lived through the season when Ralph Guglielmi was the starting QB. I lived through the season when the offense was Norm Snead throwing short to ?? (have to look him up: slow but sure-handed split end). I cheered when the team got Bobby Mitchell and the offense was Snead throwing 80-yard TD's to Mitchell.

That was the worst.

Dan Snyder is as bad an owner as George Preston Marshall, though in different ways.

There was nothing from this game to make me optimistic, but the Redskins have been worse. We survived Marshall, and you young'uns will outlast Snyder.

On the issues, Joe Gibbs used to insist that the OL and DL were the engine of his team. If Snyder sets out to fix his engine -- and he will need a real GM with real football powers -- then the team will win.

Until then, I am still a Redskin fan. Hail to the Redskins.

Well it's hard to believe you're serious.

He had one good pass, otherwise he did nothing.

Are you giving him the credit for the long Portis run? He went 0-3 on that drive.

As I've been saying, QB is not a position of strength for this team, but way to many people place too much emphasis on that position while glossing over awful coaching, poor blocking, mediocre at best running, and an ok receiving corps.

Even when people acknowledge all of that, they still place too much blame on the QB.

Then hire a coach that can add in an offense that cooley will look terrible in and we will have a deal .. I agree that cooley is pretty good and gets open but if indeed we brought in someone the likes of cutler then we would be tops..
All kidding aside the before mentioned trade proposal would be in short due to the aging and of the players mentioned ie Portis and Moss, and the oline did look like they were bull fighting at times but thats been the case for the entire Zorn campaign, I did not see the QBs get so pressured from the Defense, The coach is calling the plays and the other teams defense has the easiest job n the world.

I'm officially becoming an Eagles fan, there not good enough to be considered to be jumping on the band wagon, but are good enough to be respected as an NFL caliber team to cheer for.

To even consider this you I would wonder what kind of fan you were to begin with.

You can't possibly be if you would jump to a division rival. The Eagle fans wouldnt want you either if they knew how you can become a turncoat during the hard times.

It has been a hard time since 1992. That is 17 years. You could hardly say I'm a turncoat. It is just for the remainder of the season anyhow. This team is too pathetic to bear this season. If anything, they have disappointed me not me disappointing them.

The hideous playcalling does not come from Snyder, nor Cerrato. Let's start with empty backfields on 1st and goal.

You're right. There are far more pressing issues to address overall with this team, and those ought to be addressed in the offseason, or sooner, if need be (coach, GM, personnel, etc.) NOW, in the day-to-day, we need a change, a spark.

That can only come with changes in personnel. I'd like to see Collins have a chance to work with some of the guys he does during the week, in games, namely guys on the 2nd string. (if you think I'm on crack, please name someone, other than Randle El and ey, on offense, whose production numbers this season CANNOT be matched over the next six games)

Also, please bench/demote/cut DeAngelo immediately. The man cannot tackle.

He's probably doing the best he can do, but his best is still poor. The guy just wasn't ready to be an NFL head coach. The offense is awful, and that is what he's here for.

Now at the same time, the offensive roster is not good, especially with the injuries to Samuels and Thomas, but even before they got hurt the offense was poor and playcalling/coaching has a lot to do with that.
