I just realized why Rocky is playing so hard this year
He's playing hard and doing many good things on def because he is a free agent next year. It's funny how players the Skins have or acquire play great in contract years, but once they receive their money they suck. Fat Al, Deon, James Washington, ARE, DeAngelo Hall, John Hall (he just plain sucked), Mark Carrier, Dana Stubblefield, Bruce Smith, Adam Archuleta, Andre Carter, Corn Griffin, and free agent hits: Marcus Washington pre-2008 season, Shawn Springs when he was healthy, but if you look there are many more misses. So to make a long story short, hopefully, Rocky continues to play well for many years with the Skins or he signs with another team. LB's are a dime a dozen ask Pittsburgh they just re-load every couple of years.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that recovery from a catastphic knee injury takes two years... nahhh... has to be about the money.

This isn't just something that happens with the Skins. Contract years are always good years for players because they are playing for something more than just winning.
And yes, the vast majority of the time, it is about the money. I must say, though, that Rocky was playing well when healthy last year.
And LBs aren't a dime a dozen. Pittsburg just has a front office that knows how to pick quality players in the draft.

RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

Sad to say but it is true. Most of these guys in their contract year have great, inflated, numbers and then fall off the board after.
It's too bad that the Skins will extend a vet.minimum contract to him even though he deserves more. Ask Ryan Clark about that. He seems to be playing really well up in Pitt.

Yeah Im still waiting for JC too good comment, LB's can be had in all rounds that was what I should've said. I wasn't sold on his play last year, and the knee injury issue may have effected his play last year, but I think it's about the money and I hope he continues the high level of play.

Are you sure? I thought that was only for players that signed 5 year deals. Rocky I believe had a 4 year deal.
Right he signed a 4 year deal becuase under the current CBA you can become a FA...everything I have read says that will go to 6 years if no new CBA is reached. Not sure if that includes players who become FA this year??

I second that.

The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!
I totally disagree with this , Rocky is playing like a beast because A) He is one hell of a player. B) He is finally starting and C) He is healthy this year. He is not a Pro Bowl linebacker, he is a solid starter , so it's not like he is gonna go out and get Ray Lewis or Jon Vilma $$ as a free agent.

You nailed it Trey. He was playing great before his injury, and now that he's back to 100% it would be silly to think that he'd regress.

...I agree. EVERYONE doesn't just play for a paycheck. Rocky has been an asset as long as he's been healthy on this team...
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.

I agree. If Snyder had half a brain he'd offer incentive based, mega-one year deals to these turds.
