Hard to believe.....we're FAR from the bottom...

Post by tribeofjudah »

Ok, all you fair weathered fans...... yes YOU! Yes, we've sucked for quite some time now, but after reading this piece, it puts things in better perspective. So read on and then, SUPPORT this team - HAIL.....

The facts are stunning. The Lions are on a 1-21 streak, the Rams 2-23 and the Chiefs 2-28. Such incompetence is almost unimaginable to Washington fans. There has been only one flop that bad in all of Redskins history (1-26-3 from 1959 to '61.) Yes, of the three wins by Detroit and St. Louis in their collapses, two of them have been against the Redskins. And the Chiefs are coming to FedEx Field on Sunday, hoping to join the club. Still, the Redskins' recent suffering barely registers on the current NFL scale. Well, not yet.

............The misery just keeps going. San Francisco, trying to avoid their seventh straight losing year, just got whomped 45-10 on Sunday. Saint Singetary hasn't quite healed the 49ers yet. And every fan in Texas can tell you that, over the past 13 years combined, the Cowboys are still one game under .500. Jerry Jones is to blame.

The absolutely worst team in football might be Oakland after its 44-7 loss to the Giants last week. Before halftime, New York pulled Eli Manning, partly out of pity. The 1-4 Raiders are working on their seventh straight season of 11 or more losses. In a league with a reverse-order draft, that's really hard to do.

Maybe you have to see the tens of thousands of empty seats in St. Louis and Detroit firsthand, or hear the dejected jokes about "The Bungles" in Cincinnati, where a 4-1 start hasn't made anybody forget the past 18 seasons -- one season over .500 and 85 games under .500 in all during the penurious Brown reign.

of course we are better than those teams, the problem is is that we are a proud organization and we are far from the top......not that we are approaching the bottom. Being mediocre at .500 doesnt fly in this town

I think he's just saying expecting a good on-field product is just greedy. Mediocre is just fine, at least it's not the bottom...

I could care less what happens to the Raiders, Cincy or the Rams.

I'm used to seeing the Redskins win.

Ummm... unless you are Rip Van Winkle, I'm not sure that anyone is used to seeing the Redskins win. 3 playoff trips since '91?

Here here I could care less about past history it provided me some solitude for a while, but now .500 doesn't cut it in a major market with an owner with deep pockets who doesn't spend well.

I don't think we're at the bottom. But it's a stretch to say we are far from being there. We've been wavering for some time, and this season feels more like a freefall than anything else.

Yeah, we aren't wallowing in absolute misery like the Lions or Raiders. But we're in that next tier of teams, IMO: the ones who can't seem to get their act together and, as it is, don't look like they have much of a future. Not a great place to be.

The Redskins of the 80s and early 90s set such a high bar for this franchise, it's hard for many fans to deal with the current organization to be light years from reaching that bar.

Heck, right now, there's more "reason to believe" for Lions fans than Redskins fans.

Lions 1 win was vs us, 1 of the Rams 2 wins was vs the Skins, can the Chiefs make 3 out of 29?

Um, since '91, they have three SB rings.

Amen Brotha! I saw that too and thought... sheesh an actual article that views the mediocrity that has been the Reskins for the last 15 years as "Hey at least we are not the Raiders."

Wow. I'll never accept a tier 3 team... never.

I am not as worried as some here about the record of 2-3 - I agree that we have looked terrible and unfortunately this record has come against what some perceive as very bad teams - I think we should have beaten the Panthers but while Detroit could have also been a W that is not a bad team this year

Despite the 2-3 record we still have a 5th ranked D and I believe we will see better play on both sides of the ball soon - I believe and hope we are not as bad a team as we have looked and while we really have very little chance to win 8 games I would really be happy to just see these guys playing better - we all know that there are going to be a lot of changes here but I certainly hope that a lot of the younger players can show that they can be a part of our success down the road :D

we are not in the bottom third of the NFL in my opinion, despite what we have seen

btw - where are the supporters that thought this team would not only be in the playoffs but also was one of the better teams in the NFC East?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I forecast 10 wins on the optimistic side, so I guess I'm one of those who thought playoffs. I also said if Samuels got hurt early in the season that I thought 6 wins. I was hoping for some offensive improvement, but the o line performance has been so bad that they are probably worse than last year. Also, the defense is not as good as hoped, primarily due to playing Orakpo out of position. I now think 3-4 wins for the season - against KC (maybe) and the Raiders who appear to be the worst team by a mile. At this point, they are two and two against the worst teams in the league, and they are getting worse due to injuries. More than bottom third, they are probably bottom 5 or so.
With the Cardinals reaching the Super Bowl, is Dan Snyder officially the worst owner in the league?

we shall see - I think that you are basing it on what you have seen so far and I prefer to think that the team has not played as well as it is capable - we shall see 8)
