The Sherm Lewis Conspiracy theory....?

Is this another fantastic move by Danny and Co...?

A conspiracy theorist might connect the dots and the timeline, which appeared fuzzy on Wednesday, like this: Lewis spends time with an old friend, Greg Blache, the Redskins' defensive coordinator whom he worked with for two years in Green Bay, before the Detroit-Washington game at the team hotel. Blache is a motivator of great renown, thought of highly by Snyder. If things go abysmally south the next three weeks, Blache is asked to take bullets as the interim head coach until season's end. At the least, Blache has got a guy he knows with a little play-calling experience to have his back in the event Zorn and Smith can't put Humpty Dumpty back together again by the bye week.

By then, Lewis has almost a month under his belt of learning personnel, plays and players.

Insular Ashburn says that's cynical thinking, jaded even. They say Lewis has worked with Brett Favre, Steve Young, Joe Montana, Bill Walsh and Mike Holmgren -- so why not Campbell and Zorn? Since Zorn is basically a young Jedi learning the ways of the Force, to the point of his

This one takes the cake:

Fairly or not, Lewis feels like the cleaner. He's Harvey Keitel in "Pulp Fiction" and "Point of No Return," the guy who destroys or removes any incriminating evidence at the scene of the crime. If needed, that includes the bumbling perpetrators.

To avoid looking in the mirror, Snyder and Cerrato bring in a damage-control guy to ensure the Zorn experiment does not become a referendum on their own talent-evaluation skills. But I've got news for them:

Lewis is not going to save the head coach's job. Cerrato is not going to save Zorn's job; it's too late, the roster is set.

Only Zorn's players can keep him here. And if they can't do it -- if this ultimately isn't about Zorn's motivational qualities or his suspect play-calling -- what does that say about the people who put the team together?

It is a conspiracy theory and nothing more. But anything is possible with these two guys at the FO. No need to speculate. The Bye week looms already on the horizon. We'll find out.

If this is a consiracy, it is the most thinly vailed conspiracy ever. I believe it is the first step in Zorn's demise as a head coach. I think that Zorn could be gone at the bye week. It is not the won - loss record that will end Zorn's tenure as much as the lack of offensive production.

I expect to see a new head coach and a new quarterback next year.

It's not a conspiracy. It's kinda fact.

Coach Lewis is in Ashburn. Zorn hasn't delivered. Therefore Coach Lewis is there to deliver.

The bit about Blache is BS. He's a straight up man and woulsn't play that game.

After the Portis deal - I think it's time to get a real coach in there - Zorn I luv ya' but, Coach, you can't have chaos in the locker room and a TD challenged team.

The Skins are in danger of becomming Raiders East - but even though I don't believe in D and V, I think they're not about to let thing go Al Davis.

I know that Zorn may not be the answer the only other viable option is to hire Chuckie. He knows the west coast offense and can incoporate a power running game as he did in TB. Hell, he won a superbowl with Brad Johnson, and they were not a team like the Ravens that had an amazing defense and an average offense. The offense scored points. He doesn't play favorites i.e. Keyshawn deactivating him. He could turn this around with the talent already here. The problem with hiring other coaches is they may want a 3-4 or change the offense. His philosophy is similar for the offense and defense that is already in place with the exception being he can win.

It goes back awhile. Sherman Lewis was the mastermind behind Holmgren's offense in Green Bay. From the Walsh coaching tree once removed. Sherm was the "hot guy" and sure bet to get a HC gig. He didn't, hence, the Rooney Rule. He continued to coach on and finally got fed up. Told Holmgren no to Seattle and that he was going to take some time off. Became the Bingo Caller....

Fast Forward to the hiring of Jim Zorn. Zorn was first hired as the OC with the thought of Holmgren coming here. Holmgren said no putting Danny and Vinny in a lurch. Burned the GW bridge who was the "shoe-in" and fan favorite to be next HC. Now, nobody wants to come. Promote Zorn to HC but keep Blache as DC.

Peter King reports that Holmgren told him that he wanted to come back to the east coast in 2010 and one of his stops listed was Washington. Holmgren has been keeping an eye on what Zorn is doing here. Not great. Terrible.. Clueless... Uninspiring.... Holmgren calls the "Bingo Caller" and say's, "hey you ready to comeback?" Roust of the band boys...

Think about though. Of all of the people out there, why Sherm Lewis, a Mike Holmgren guy???

Won't happen because 9-7 won't get you in the playoffs and this Sherm Lewis thing has become a distraction. If he get's to 9 wins it's because Lewis helped him to it or he decided to just let the offense make plays by simplifying things and letting them use their talent.

Even still, it's a done deal.... For him to keep his job. He'd have to make the NFC Championship Game.

Just another person buying the fact that they couldn't "give" the head coaching job away. What do we know about Snyder's ability to hire the people he wants?

- His first hire was Marty who had said he could never coach under Snyder.
- The The Ball coach, who had turned down numerous attempts by NFL teams to be their HC.
- Then he brought Gibbs back who had turned down several HC positions before.
- After Gibbs he had Fassel, Mooch, and GW just dieing to be the HC. And anyone one that thinks Ron Meeks, Schwarts, or any of the other guys Snyder interviewed (other than Spags) were ever offered the job and would have turned it down had it been offered them, then I have some mountain range property in Key West and Ocean front property in Arizona that I can sell you!

Don't believe all of what you read and hear from the media! It is propaganda to sell their product!

Jones has his puppet on the sideline in Phillips. Why not puppet Zorn throurgh Lewis through Cerato through Snyder. Ouch my head hurts. I have seen alot of antics with this team but for the first time I am very disappointed.

There is no way this hire is a good sign for Zorn. And it makes perfect sense if you're the owner and considering making a change. You just can't fire Zorn and the offensive staff and hand the keys over to Blache and expect him to hire an offensive coordinator and get up to speed in a week or two.

So, you bring in a guy experienced with the WCO, have him digesting the playbook real quick, while evaluating the players and offensive coaches. As soon as he's comfortable, BOOM ... Zorn and staff are gone. Blache takes over as HC and defensive play caller ... Lewis takes over as OC and caller ... retains the coaches he's had the opportunity to evaluate and adds whoever he feels he needs.

Timing wise, I don't think Zorn even gets three weeks. A good whuppin on Sunday could see him out the door, handing the offense over to Lewis for a dress rehearsal game against the Chiefs ... before having to face the Eagles.

If they're trying to save the season, I don't think you can wait till the buy week ... at 3 and 5 (loss to Carolina, KC win, Eagles loss) they would be in too deep a hole with the strength of the schedule coming up.

I think the deal is already done.

Ray, if the Redskins do indeed get blown out in this game, do you actually see Jim Zorn getting fired before the game against the Chiefs? I think that he will be gone at the bye week.

Ray, if the Redskins do indeed get blown out in this game, do you actually see Jim Zorn getting fired before the game against the Chiefs? I think that he will be gone at the bye week.

If we get blown out, or if we just continue to look foolish on offense, I think they could make a change now, or next week after KC. But I'd have to say it all boils down to how quickly Lewis gets up to speed on the offense. That is the key element to the entire equation, if indeed that's what the FO is up to.

I could also be totally wrong on this, and Zorn is here next year.
