Just watched last weeks game again to digest through it. I only counted 5 playaction passes. Of those 5 we completed 3 of them. I am a big fan of playactioin as it freezes the LB not allowing them to cover WRs in a zone or man defense.
Gibbs used playaction alot which worked well because we ran the ball so much. Zorn still is dedicated to the run and last week it worked well. Manning, Brady and the other BIG time QBs use Playaction over 50% of the time. Why dont we use it as much? It has shown to be effective when we do.
Playaction?

You can still fake a draw/delay.

You have to be able to run for PA to work...I may be wrong but this teams O stopped producting the last 8 games of the season last year...that just happened to be the same timefame the running game went south.

Thank you.
In order for play action to work, the defense must first respect the run, then they must expect the run. It also helps if the defense is known for aggressive pursuit of run plays.
Like any play, the effectiveness of the play action pass is as much related to when it's called, as it is to how well it's executed. There's no point in calling it if your opponents aren't afraid of your run.

The problem with play-action and JC is that he doesn't sell it as well as the QB's listed they really sell the fake and that is something that Gibbs coached QB's and RB's displayed. The play-action fake must be carried out the same as a called hand-off, and JC and the backs don't do this. The QB sells it and the RB carries the fake out, if these two things don't happen play-action doesn't work. Again this comes down to players admitting fault and correcting their faults. The Skins specifically the players need to hold themselves accountable, and until this happens we will continue to post the same things and agree that this franchise is not going anywhere fast.
