George Michael's take on Snyderrato

Post by tribeofjudah »

George Michael, sports newscaster (not singer) is good friends with Snyder and here's what he has said:

"I will tell you this, and folks, please write this down--Dan Snyder does not want to fire Jim Zorn," Michael said. "Believe me, on my kid's life, he doesn't want to fire Zorn. Let me tell you, he does not want to fire Jim Zorn....

"You have to take gambles, and that's what they did with Zorn," he continued. "Dan Snyder put his name, his stamp, his reputation on Jim Zorn. If Jim doesn't deliver what Dan Snyder thinks is a good deal, then there's no telling when it could end. But I must tell you this, after you lose to the Detroit Lions--and I do personally love this guy Jim Zorn, he's a great guy--you cannot go before the public and say we're making improvements. Dear God, if you're making improvement and losing to the 0-19 Lions, my ass is grass and you're the lawnmower. We're in trouble, baby."

If George Michael is saying that - and he's the biggest Skins homer there is - then Zorn is in trouble.

Yeah what an idiot. The guy largely credited with being the influence for ESPN sports center. Come on now...

Anyway, I listened to that interview on Mike Wise' show yesterday. Some interesting stuff, although you do have to wade through George's weird segues and tangents.

Read the part where they ask him why Snyder is so villified. He thinks that it goes back to Snyder first taking over the team as a brash, young 34 year old. I just completely disagree with that. While it might be true that the young upstart ruffled some feathers when he first took over, who cares about that or even remembers that now?? People are ticked because he continually fields crap teams.

I think that if the Skins loose this week, Zorn get's fired. I don't know who will be the HC - some have said Danny Smith and with all his energy, it may not be a bad thing. If Zorn win's, I think it buy's him another week.

George On the Future: "There IS NO QUICK FIX. If anyone thinks anyone can turn this around over night, they are badly mistaken....Here is the deal: There IS NO QUICK FIX. Who's been the face of the franchise? Clinton Portis. What has Clinton Portis done for me lately? Everybody knows that I'm in the tank for Clinton, I love the guy. I don't want him to deliver my loaf of bread right now! He can't carry the dadgum loaf of bread to my front door much less get me one yard at the 4th-and-goal at the 1, so I don't want that. So I put $100 million on Albert Haynesworth--ooooh, I hurt my hip, I can't play the next 25 plays. And then I've got Jason, God love you, Jason, if I can see Antwaan Randle-El standing by himself with no one within 100 yards of him...then the quarterback's got to see it.

"And when things like that are happening, it becomes very frustrating. And that's why Zorn says we're making improvements, what he should have said was folks there were plays where we had guys that were ready to score touchdowns but we didn't get the ball in their hands. That I would have understood."

I think George hit the nail on the head .... straight up, and honest truth.

Clinton looks to me as a guy who has emotionally quit. And I don't blame him for much of it considering some of the overt issues last year between him and Zorn on the sideline ... and the decision (the dreadfully weak and ridiculous decision) to make Betts the 3rd down back coming into the season. It's absolutely absurd to put your best weapon on the sideline on 3rd downs, especially a team who has performed so poorly on 3rd downs. Betts? Betts????

The absence of a pass rush is disturbing given the hype of what Haynesworth would bring to the table. I can't even find the table.

And the Campbell thing is what I've been saying for 2 years. There are lots of plays out there that he doesn't make .. over thrown .. under thrown.. ... but even more that we never see him not make because he doesn't even see them himself. I've listened to a number of games on internet radio and recall a ton of comments by both Sonny and Sam .... Randel El was wide open down the left sideline and Jason didn't see it ... or "I can't believe he threw that ball into double coverage ... did you see how wide open Santana was ... that was an easy TD right there".

This is a common understanding amongst the real experts who are watching closely ... they've just kept their mouths shut thus far, but things are coming to a head, and Jason's hall pass is worn out.

Agree 100%. If we lose to the Bucs he is done. He might not get fired until the bye week but there is no doubt in my mind that gets let go if he loses to the Lions and Bucs back-to-back.

I really doubt he is getting fired during the season. Maybe if we get to double digit losses before we get our second win.

If Zorn starts 2-5, he's out by the Bye Week. They have the easiest schedule in football the first half of the season. You start 2-5, you can punt the season. You might as well bring in Shanahan or Holmgren in at that point.

What is Dan Snyder's "reputation"? He's just another douche bag football fan with a lot of money who happened to buy his favorite football team. his reputation as an owner of a team is one where he spends money irresponsibly while he makes bad decision after bad decision, and looks desperate in the process. His reputation certainly isn't good if he has one at all. What a stupid comment.
