Four components to a successful franchise.

As Colin Cowherd has said; there are 4 components which makes for a successful franchise, and he is correct.


1. A good owner

2. A smart GM

3. A great coach

4. A good quarterback

We have none of that, hence the Redskins suck!

At least QB's can change, coaches can change, and GM's (well we don't have a GM), but owners are unchangeable.

Unfortunately, Synder will be the owner for quite a while, stymieing the Skins chances of ever being once again dominant or at least successful for a period of time in the NFL. The Skins are officially a third tier team. The bottom line is, might as well find a new team to start cheering for.

Maybe Synder will choke to death on his own ego.

Players make franchises ask Phil Jackson, Doc Rivers, Joe Gibbs, Earl Weaver, Manny Acta, Paul Brown, Bill Walsh, and others you have to have players to win and the Redskins do not have enough players to consistently play with other franchises. I think the past has hurt the Skins the constant dealing away draft picks have begun to haunt the franchise and now they are in a state of rebuilding.

A little shortsighted here, don't you think. Who gets those players? They don't magically appear on their roster. Who is the person that picks the GM that picks the players.

You said yourself that the dealing picks hurts the franchise ---- so, inevitably, you are saying that trading players for picks is a bad thing -- realizing that this isn't the NBA. Therefore, ultimately, the GM is the person that makes the picks ---- and gets the PLAYERS. The GM is hired by the owner. The owner and the GM pick the coach.

And the QB is the leader of the team. Plain and simple.

You're totally right. But begun? Man, this has been killing us for years now.

How hard is it to look north up I-95 and see how you manage a successful team? Build up lots of good, young players through the draft. Don't overpay for aging veterans. And hopefully acquire a franchise QB somewhere along the way.

That last one maybe takes a little bit of luck. But the other two seem to come from patience, smarts and good talent evaluation.

Snyder can be a good owner and is still better than half the owners in the league, but he must first admit that he has a problem. Like all junkies that is the first step. He must fire Vinny and hire a good GM and and let him run the team. Including hiring the next coach.

We need to do what the Lions did. Fire the GM, and let the new GM hire a coach with good leadership skills.

And of course a starting caliber NFL QB wouldn't hurt. Just because JC is better than a handful of the starting QBs out there, doesn't make him starting caliber. The NFL just doesn't have enough starting caliber QBs to go around.

You're totally right. But begun? Man, this has been killing us for years now.

Right. I'm a Bulls fan and as much as I hate Reinsdorf for breaking up the team after it's 6th championship, he was the one who made it all happen. Drafted some some of the greatest players, and as soon as he realized that Doug Collins couldn't get us over the top...even with Jordan, he hired Phil and the team went on to win 6 (would have been 8 if Jordan wouldn't have been banned from the league for gambling for two years). Great players will get you so far. A Great coach will get you further, and a Great GM will make it stay that way for a long time. Once Snyder realizes this, the sky's the limit. I wish we had Parcells here, but I bet there are others out there. I wonder if Pollian would come over. We need a GM
