No one talking about Zorn not challenging the Lion's TD?

Post by danegotti »

After we had a pass interference called, the ball was spotted on the 1 yard line. The Lions took it outside on 2nd down and dove in for the TD - but he was down before getting the ball in the end-zone.

No one even blinked. Zorn should have challenged it. We were one stop away from holding them to a field goal. The Skins got to field goal range at the end of the game. Had we held them to a FG, the score would have been 16-13.

It was a crucial moment of the game, why didn't you challenge it Zorn?

Maybe because he's clueless???? Or maybe he was conceding the score rather than wasting more time...

There were several critical parts of the game that Zorn screwed up on. This adds to the list

I was ticketed off about that, but really I blame that on first the refs (more in a moment) and the people JZ has upstairs. There is no way he could have told from the coaches box that Morris didn't get it.

Not making excuses for the team, because they didn't play well enough to win, but the officiating was just down right awful!

Some big things that stood out:
- "The third down play" on the Lions 99 yard TD drive, Haynesworth was being held ans was still getting to Stafford so the LT tackled him. It was the type of play you can't miss.
- The first down run prior to JC throwing a pick CP was tackled by his facemask and the defender continued to hold on to it even after he was stopped in clear view of the sideline judge. There is no way he didn't see it!
- The facemask that was called and then picked up. One ref saw it and called it and the zebras got togother and concluded it had never happened. Again a clear call that was made incorrect.
- Morris' TD was called a TD by the judge that could clearly see that he did not get in.
- Th PI that set up that TD was was just a horrendous call. Horton clearly got his head around before contact. It was clearly a "Make Up" call that rogger or Hall put on their WR the play before.
- The catch by ARE that was reviewed should have never gone to review, he was in.

There were plenty of other very bad calls but those are the one s that stand out. One the is CLEAR to me. the refs wanted Detroit to win this game and were helping them!

Funny thing is, as poorly as the Skins played, the Lions didn't need any help! It just really chaffs my tail end when a set of ref take it upon themselves to try and change the outcome of the game.

It was close enough to challenge. I had the game DVR'd but erased it because I ain't watching that trash twice.

The NFL Net On Demand isn't as frame-by-frame friendly so it's hard to pause on the perfect spot.
