And why would he give it up? It's not like he has anything better to do. I'm sure he's a pretty smart guy, but he just is simply not qualified to pick NFL player personnel, and he's too egotistical to admit it.
And that is the purgatory to which we, as Redskins fans, are condemned.
Sure he's a smart guy, but the ego and the obsession with being in the mix are getting in the way of the epiphany that must happen before this team can make any real progress.
And that's simply: "I can't do this."
Being in the mix with season after season of 8-8, 9-7, 6-10, the occasional 10-6 with a wild card berth is more desirable to Snyder than absolving himself of all things football, handing the keys to someone else and maybe reaching the levels of 12-4, 13-3 and continued title contention.
That said, I think your complaint that Snyder is driven by 'greed' is just silly. Every business owner has the obligation to run an organization for maximum profit, within the constraints of the law and some sort of parameters of human decency. I don't think you appreciate that.
Let him maximize the bottom line of the ledger sheet. He's proven his chops in that regard in spades.
But his continued involvement -- at whatever level it's at, but it sure ain't zero -- with the football team hasn't helped in 10 years.
With regard to Jason Campbell, I think he's being kept in mainly for reasons that have nothing to do with his actual ability. There's a lot of people in the Redskins organization whose egos and careers ride on the idea that we did not give away the store for a bust (again), and therefore the last thing they want is Collins to be given a shot to prove that is the case. Thus, even the media reporters will tell you flatly that there is not a chance in hell that anyone else will be given a chance to start, regardless of how poorly he plays.
That's right in line with last year's stunt of making sure every draft pick made the final roster and trying to sell us on the idea that they had a "great draft."
Riiiight.
The conservative approach that Campbell exhibits on the field only reinforces this; you won't be benched for throws you don't attempt, for example, nor will you be benched for throwing 5 consecutive completions of 5 yard dumpoffs. Heck, some fans will even point out with pride what a GREAT COMPLETION PERCENTAGE you have and use it as evidence of what a great QB you can be!
It shows only that stats can be manipulated to support any number of positions.
I don't think JC is horrible. He's being asked to run an offense that doesn't capitalize on his biggest strengths. Is that by design or, maybe, it's because they don't have an O-line (especially now) that can keep a rush off him for more than 2.5 seconds?

I now know why others have stopped debating about the QB here
Thankfully Zorn will start the QB that he thinks gives him the best chance to win

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

12th rated QB aye?
Must be a California thing. How about 31st rated team in scoring.

I wish that were true...
Wrong thinking is punishable.
Right thinking will be as quickly rewarded.
You will find it an effective combination.
