Yeah QC idnt look to bad after only one year in a Coaching system that placed some confidence in him, with a banged up O-line and running back that dissappeared from time to time. Oh yeah didnt that same QB beat you guys twice last year.
Gambit - all I can say is...you are right. Until we prove it on the field no team is envying our squad. However, I have a feeling that our division games this season will be much more competetive and you better hope that you have more consistency from QC and whoever your RB is going to be. The rivalary is back...and I for one am looking forward to some hard-fought divisonal games like in years past.

Skins75... You couldn't of taken the words right out of my mouth any better than I could have said them!!!! But something tells me that with all the talent we have on this team(and Gambit you know it too)and Coach Gibbs ability to determine who his "real" players are and make those players into stars with hard work, dedication, praise and just an ability to draw out the best in his players, will show up on the field this fall. Gambit your dallas team is going to see a completely different team on the field this year and if you really do have all the contacts you say you do, then you will find a way to put a bug in Parcells ear that says "This team is coming after you and if you're not really careful, this team is going to run, throw and defensively beat up on you!!!" Oh... And Gambit... That same bug might want to tell mr. qc to get rid of the ball a little quicker(especially on 3rd and long)because there is going to be ONE MAD LINEBACKER in his face.
I figure... If life is all about the choices you make... Then I choose Redskin football, beer and hot wings!!

UMMM is that ONE MAD LINEBACKER, the same one that is throwing parties like twice a week and cannt stay outta the clubs in DC and NY.....U guys forget Parcells has won at every stop he has been at, he trains his assistance to think like he does. You guys just keep replacing pieces every year. With a different mechanics every two years. I have no doubt that Coach Gibbs will be an improvement at coach, but plain and simply we own you guys. I am sold on Coach Gibbs, but i have my doubts about Bugel.
That's like the Patriots bragging about Tom Brady against the Colts... That Colts defense ain't special.BringThePain! wrote:oh yeah..... QC beat up on a 25th ranked D.... give him an award or something already.....

If I sound a little too upbeat, especially this early in the season or even a little pompous(more than likely in Gambits case)then I guess I'll apologise a little. But I've been watching or listening to the Redskins play sice '73. I say listen because when I couldn't watch the game, my Dad would let me use his shortwave radio to tune it in. Even helped me get the damn thing tuned in and fed it to some seperate speakers so the game would fill the whole room!!! It was pretty cool!!! Out in the garage, space heater going and my dad occasionally coming out to listen to the game with me and once in awhile, even share a few of his beers with me when I got a little older. Just good memories. But I remember whem Joe Gibbs started with this team. I also remember watching this coordinator from San Diego come in and work some things close to miricles. I also see some really cool things getting ready to start up again. So to my fellow brethren I say get ready. To our opponents I say GET READY!!!!

yes.
gambit likes to go on these little tirades about how our star linebacker is partying all of the time (which I'm not disputing)... as if it matters in May and June, anyway, I digress by even dignifying the statement with commentary... personally I think it has a lot more to do with someone's need to name drop than anything else....

And you fancy yourself impartial... OK, I'll bite. Why do you doubt Joe Bugel? But start a new thread...
For the record, on the Dallas' side, I think that the Cowboys have a great set of WRs and are definitely the least of their problems.
On the Redskins side, I think that McCants will not only easily win the #3 slot, but push Gardner for total receptions... And we know he'll catch more TDs and have less drops.

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

I dunno about McCants having a cakewalk to the #3 slot... why are you so confident? James Thrash and Taylor Jacobs are darned fine recievers IMO, and both of them can run circles around McCants. Personally, I think Taylor has the most skill out of the three, and with this coaching staff I think his potential will be realized.
Although I would be interested to know why everyone is so high on DMac, I mean, sure he's a great guy... but is he really THAT impressive?
PS- Why rip on Gardener? He's big, he's fast and he's got a legit Qb throwing to him finally. I see this as being a good year to be Rod.

Gambit is that you implying that Lavar isn't giving a damn about this season, this team or even his own performance? I know that couldn't be true. Considering he appears to be so high on doing what it takes to make this team win. And so what if he's partying. If you had that much money, wouldn't you be partying too! It is the off season. Oh but word to the wiser, he's also been in training and been with his coordinators. So don't step in here and try and confuse fact with fiction and try and stir up controversy. At least not on this site!!!! If you can throw out fact instead of insinuation, then your post might hold some validity.

Gambit,
My sources confirm what you have stated about our LB out all hours of the night partying. My buddy is a musician and last season had a gig at a popular nightspot in downtown DC during the season. He complained to me that too many of our players were seen out til 2-3am frequently on Wed-Thurs nights, particularly our favorite LB.

While the dude catches some great passes, he celebrates too much for a guy that then goes and drops an easy pass to the chest that is crucial to continuing a drive down the field. I'm not denying the size and ability of the man but sometimes you've got to shut up and prove your worth on every single play. He has the ability and I hope he takes advantage of this coaching staff. Everyone loves McCants b/c he maximizes every play that goes his way. I have great hope that Taylor Jacobs will also evolve b/c he also has ability. Thrash has a great heart and can only help these guys focus.
Oh, and Gambit, I too would like to know what your beef is with Buges in a separate thread... As a head coach, you may have an argument but as a teacher and football mind, what can you say about him?

That's right, Gambit!!!! He's even on a low-carb diet, son!!!!!!!

He's dead serious!

The partying is okay as long as his carb count is low.

Back and better than ever!

I agree with you that this should be a good year for Taylor Jacobs. With his injury last year he did not have a chance to show his ability. I think with some time in the weight room he will be a Laverneius Coles type receiver. Gardner will improve greatly this year because this coaching staff will not allow him to run those lazy routes he got away with the last couple years. He gets no separation but uses his size to get to balls. He also needs to catch the ball away from his body which I'm sure he will get coached on this year. James Thrash could be the #2 receiver in my book. He runs better patterns than everyone accept LC. He blocks better than any of th receivers and he never quits on any play.
There will be a dog fight for playing time and I think this will make all of the receivers better.

I like the 3 who are competing, they are all swell guys, but Taylor just looks like he's head and shoulders better by going on pure skill. He's a track star with good hands and he also seems to be very intelligent.
He may be the one positive holdover from the Steve Spurrier era.

Why rip on Gardener?
????? I didn't. I just said i thought that Mccants would push him for receptions. I base that on the fact that DM gets better every year and Gardner continues to struggle with mental aspects of the game -- whether it's lining up off-side or just dropping balls that he should catch. You may think Gibbs will help Gardner, I think that if Gardner continues to struggle, Gibbs isn't the kind of coach to watch a guy continue to make the same mistakes again and again.
He's big,he's fast and he's got a legit Qb throwing to him finally.
It doesn't matter who's throwing it... when it hits you in the chest, you should have caught it. The guy just drops too many easy balls. Hopefully he'll get better. Personally, I think he will continue to under-achieve... and consequently we'll see DM getting more looks.
Jacobs a fine receiver? Well he was a fine receiver in college... but I'm not putting too much faith in a guy who caught 3 balls last year. Sure he was injured early... but he did nothing late. He seems to lack toughness, but we'll have to wait and see. If he can run circles around McCants then why DIDN'T he last year? Apparently you think highly of him... I don't.
I like Thrash a lot. I just think a lot of his touches will come on special teams. He will definitely have a good chance at winning the #3 slot too... but personally I think McCants is the one that is going to flourish under Gibbs... he's hungrier than the others.
