Laron, no more boneheaded plays.......please?

Post by tribeofjudah »

Laron Landry, Dirty 30, Mister LL cool breeze! Man, first of all, I really like this young man, ever since your days a LSU....so here's a little note for LL.

Please play smarter. Don't always look for the big HIT, those will come. Keep you head up, wrap em strong, and make the tackle. See if you can't dig into players arms and strip a ball or two. Don't try to emulate the late, great #21, or anyone else for that matter. Just be YOU mister man. You're one tough dude, great skills, awesome specimen..... The jarring, bone crushing hits will come.

As Zorny said, stay "medium" and keep your personal emotions out of it. It's a game, have fun, play tough.......but most of all, DON'T make bone head, goofy, mental mistakes that end up costing your team.

Peace and Chicken grease..........

I'm not worried about Landry - he's going to be one of the best at his position and he'll be in charge of our secondary - this is a very "heady" NFL player and while he was, IMO, a little "up" for the game he will be back to the type of player that we expect this week

I put that game's bad play down to a desire to show everyone that he's not going to let Jacobs ever get the better of him again and a desire to help his team - he will be a force this year, that game was an aberration
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

For sure, SkinsJock. I just want to point out that LL's eagerness to make the BIG HIT causes him to misjudge a move and he misses the tackle completely. Mistackles will cost him and this team.

Our secondary is tough but how many mis-tackles have you seen - just this season already. LL, Smoot, Rogers, Hall......all overshot the ball carrier and missed the tackle.....tsk tsk tsk.

no worries - it was 1 game and in my opinion the guys you mention were a little pumped up because of what happened in the first game last year AND because of some of the trash talking that the giants (and quite possibly Smoot) were getting into before the game

I agree that there were mistakes made but I think the fact is that what we saw is not typical from these guys- I think we will see them all pull it together from here on out - I'm sure the coaches were all over them this week about the missed tackles

I look for a great effort from our D this week, at home and especially after that game

I've never seen Laron do much. Granted I don't see all the games so it might be coincidence but nevertheless I've never been impressed. Hoping he figures it out.

This post was not meant to start a war or get anyones panties in a wad. I'm just sayin.

IMO he needs to go back to SS...he just takes bad angles from his FS position...he's much better closer to the ball. We need to use him like Pitt uses Troy.

him and deangelo are good for a 15 yarder. If not one probably the other. We need to cut down mental mistakes and just play.

I agree. That's where he'd be, too, if the worst hadn't happened.

I have always felt that Landry will become one of the leaders of the defense if not the captain - this kid can play and has a great head for the game - I would love him to be at SS but I understand the team thinks it's best to have him back at FS - not many can play both as well

I disagre... Horton's the only player in the secondary (and Doughty when he was in), that's shown smarts and sure tackling... I know everybody disagrees wih this, but I think Horton is better right now at SS than LL would be... LL has better skills when he gets his stuff together, but he hasn't shown it in a while...

He hasn't played SS (his natural position) in a while.
