Buffalo releases starting OLT Walker

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Buffalo releases starting OLT Walker

Buffalo releases starting OLT Walker

The Bills' offensive overhaul continued on Tuesday with the club releasing starting OLT Langston Walker just six days before their regular-season opener. The team had reportedly been trying to trade the veteran, but after receiving little interest, it opted to cut ties with him rather than keep the middling veteran around for $3 million.

Walker had manned the Bills' ORT post in 2007 and '08 after signing a five-year, $25 million free-agent deal — including a $5 million signing bonus — but was flipped to the left side this offseason to replace Pro Bowler Jason Peters. Peters was traded to Philadelphia before the draft after no headway had been made in negotiations for a new contract.

Walker is the second of the Bills' high-priced OL additions from 2007 to be released this offseason. Previously, OLG Derrick Dockery was canned after inking a $49 million deal in '07. Dockery has since signed with the Redskins.

To compensate for the loss of Walker, Buffalo re-signed OL Kirk Chambers, whom they released on Saturday when rosters were reduced to 53 players. The swing guard-tackle is well-schooled in Buffalo's offense and figures to compete with Demetrius Bell for the OLT vacancy.

He was a solid RT last year. This is a move I'd seriously look at...

I could see it happen next week. It's just not smart cap wise to add anyone to the roster this late.

Yeah I was just thinking that same thing.. It would be nice to have him for depth, but how could we afford someone with his talent and experience?
