MIAMI -- Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor was honored Friday at Gulliver Preparatory School.

Students dedicated their football field to the late NFL player and alumnus. A new scoreboard will also bear his name.

Taylor, 24, was shot and killed in 2007 during a robbery in his Palmetto Bay home. He was an All-Pro safety with the Redskins who also played for the University of Miami.

Five people have been arrested in connection with his death. All of the suspects are from the Fort Myers area. Four of them are currently set to stand trial on Jan. 18.

The fifth suspect, Venjah Hunte, pleaded guilty last year and agreed to testify against the four other suspects in exhcange for a 29-year sentence.

Nicely done! We all miss Sean and this is a GREAT way to allow his memory to live on.

I've made it a point to go and visit his resting site....if ever I get down to Florida.

Love and Miss ST......

That's awesome. Sean is hugely popular and terribly missed here in South Florida. I still can't believe he's gone. Damn...

It makes me sad thinking about that. I'm glad Gulliver is honoring him. It's good to see someone keeping his memory and legacy alive.

Yeah, football fans were robbed of an historic career in its infancy. What could have been...

I was thinking about ST just this morning...thinking about this past weekend and my brother's comment.

I visited my brother in Jersey (a Gnats fan) and I ribbed him a bit about wearing a Toomer Gnats jersey. He the replied with the most ignorant of statements, "Well you shouldn't be wearing that Taylor jersey, he's not playing anymore either. He was a thug, ect ect," with the normal ignorant rhetoric...

I drove off without even saying goodbye...
...any given Sunday....

RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.

Yeah it is a whole different story when a player just isn't on a team anymore and when a person was shot down in his own home. That was a real messed up thing to say.

I will never forget Taylor. He would have made this defense 21x as good with him at FS and Landry at SS. It's such a sad story. But I'm glad to see his high school is honoring him this way. RIP Mr Taylor.
R.I.P. Sean Taylor

You will be missed, but never forgotten
