Wonder if the Eagles....

Post by Montana Redskin »

are going to get accused of being "big spenders" and blowing money if they get Eddie George now?

They've done it twice with Owens and Kearse, so add George to the mix. All real big names in my book and any NFL fans book.

Why do I bet that Pasq, Banks etc...will be saying what great moves these are bla,bla and how much stronger they are, etc.....

We do the same thing and get blasted year in and year out....

I guess big spenders that don't achieve much get this ridiculing. But since Eagles have been winning, they'll get away with it....must be only reason.

No one likes a big spender that is why they always get bashed. That is why I don't like sports writers they bash the owners that try to make the teams better by spending. All the cheap asses though are great to them. Len and most of ESPN don't know crap about sports though. It will be great when Gibbs wins a superbowl though. What are they going to say then. If the Eagles fail than they will get bashed for all this. The sports writers don't have the balls to do it before the fact, but they will criticize after the fact though. Just remember when the Redskins 100 million team, they didn't get bashed until after the fact.

Winning changes everything. We get bashed because we spend and spend and still lose. This year should be different, but until we win, we'll here this over and over.
Let us all gather around and drink the Cooley-Aid of the Redskins.

We're going to hear it next season too even if we have a winning season. We're going to have to win consitently and show that this money burning is paying off. They ridicule is because we spend triple the money for the same results as the "cheap" owners. I doubt its the money they're making fun of, I think its Snyder spending it in the wrong places. We sit here and bash Deoin, Trotter, J. George, etc. Those are the big names brought in, the writers bashed from the jump, we bash in retrospect. Lol. So more or less we have been agreeing with this writers to an extent if U think about it.

Like its been said in prior posts WINNING CURES EVERYTHING. Until we win, we will have nay sayers constantly bringing up the redskins pitfalls. So hopefully this year the spending will transfer to wins, and with gibbs in the fold theres going to an obvoius difference from proir years. I can't wait to make pasqurelli, dr. z, and everyone else shut the f*** up.

Assuming Eagles have a rough year in 2004, Pastaface will be writing in Dec 04 "well, give the Eagles credit for going out and getting some big names to try and upgrade their solid team, I really think they did the right thing by not sitting around being cheap and actually pulling out the checkbooks and trying to make themselves better by addressing key positions...ie. DE Kearse, RB George, WR Owens and now backup QB Blake"

Gee, I can see just the same credit being given to Washington if we have a rough 04....
We'll be hearing a whole different story.

What TF is that fat guys problem? What did the Redskins do to get his undies in a bundle?
A professional writer would/should be more consistent instead of obviously so biased in his opinions?

For some reason, I don't think that fat boy would be all lovey dovey with us if we went 16-0. He'd still be saying something negative about the Redskins if they do have a great season. Only thing I could think is he'd give all the credit to Gibbs....definitely none to the solid pickups and Snyder. Winning does cure alot, but I still think that fat boy would be getting a few last words in.....something like "well, money finally bought the Redskins some success, guess 1-5 tries it's bound to happen sometime"

I'm sure there's other big spenders (don't have the salary cap data handy) that have been consistent big spenders that have had rough seasons and ESPN/CNN articles don't slam them.

Part of our problem is that, in contrast to the "Snyder method" of building a franchise (see earlier hogs.net articles), teams like the Patriots have gotten reputations for making big-time wins and getting championships based on the help of no-name low paid vets who get the job done much better than the high paid names (like Bruce, Deion, Trotter, Carrier, etc.) It would be one thing if we were just a team out there spending a lot of money and not winning. It's another thing entirely that there are teams out there (foremost among them the Pats) that are winning with low salary guys.

My bets are on Gibbs though, so I guess we'll see.

EEEXXXAAACCCTTLLLY...

C'mon guys lets not jump the gun just because we're Skins fans. Snyder cares but his spending his been reckless. Im hoping that Gibbs will leave an impression on Snyder. Hopefully when Gibbs leaves one of his guys will take the helm who encompasses Gibbs ideals. Snyder has shown thus far that he isn't cut out to make the big decisions. Snyder, sit down, shutup, let Gibbs take the bridge.

If you`re the third or fourth richest franchise in world sports,as I believe we are, you`re going to have a whole bunch of people wanting to see you fall on your butt. I think there is a change in tone when most commentators talk about the Redskins now due to respect for Joe and what he can do. I`m sure that we`re all agreed though that we have to earn respect with results on the field.
Lets go Redskins !
