i'm getting my back piece done this weekend, or at least the first session.(it will take 2-3 sessions) heres a link to the flash pic...
http://www.thailandtattoocenter.com/gallery/album02/Sheet113
the one i'm getting is the evil bastard busting through the skin on the right side of the page(not any of the other images, they are just all on the same sheet). i'm having the claws made a little longer(for the "EVIL" effect), and the eyes are going to be much larger once the pic is blown up to fit my back and will probably be a yellow/green mix and have red pupils added(for more "EVIL" factor), but those will be the only colors, because the image is just too sweet with all the shadowing. it will probably cover about 70-80% of my back, by the time it's all said and done.
i didn't want a piece that was overdone, so i decided a single image would work best. ever since i got my first tat, i wanted one with a monster/demon/animal tearing its way through the skin, so i decided on this one, once i saw it. note the shadow that the hand/claw casts on the skin, because it has already torn its way through.(nice added effect to the image)

let me know what you guys think, IT IS PERMANENT!!! any input is welcome. i have till saturday at 3 pm to make any changes. boss brought up a good point by saying i should off center it slightly so all the detail won't be directly over my spine (a VERY sensitive area to ink), but i think i'll down a percocet, and maybe a valium or two, and just bite the bullet and have it centered anyway. hell it's only a couple hours at the time, right? this is something i have to live with from here on out, so let me know what YOU think of the design.
:feedback; :feedback; :feedback; :feedback;

boss was kind enough to give me the oppurtunity to post a pic or two after each session, so everyone can see how things are progressing from start to finish. (thanks boss! ) i'm VERY, VERY excited about getting my back done. the only thing i don't like is the fact that its $120/hr. :puke:

How about a couple of small raised bumps in the forehead like in your avatar???

... they could just be shadowed bumps under his veil to give that 'horned' appearance..

I like it. Let me know how getting one on your entire back feels. I have a few just above my shoulder blades and they were okay...but I heard it's really painful at the base of your back.

Nice tat  ..... if I had to change one thing about it.... it would be his mouth.... it kinda looks like the demon is sitting there with his mouth open.... if you want it to look really EVIL.... I'd say get the artist to scrunch his nose a little and open his mouth wider at the top, and on the sides.... like he's gonna EAT ME  (practice in the mirror your demon look, to understand what i mean ;) )

other than that, it looks slick.... and I think you'll pull off that "inner demons are coming out" effect ;)

Man... I know it's a big tat and it's gonna cost alot.... but $120 an hour? they didn't just give you an overall price for the entire tat?.... make sure he's not chit chatting with his boys on the phone on your dime ;)

Nice man - my bro-in-law has almost his whole back done. It definitely took 2-3 sessions at about4 hours a pop if not more. It looks great though. My bro has a sleeve/chest done - he's got an evil dude under his arm kind of like that but it's more of a japanese influenced style. As long as you did your research on the artist, go for it!...

That looks sweet man. I have been trying to come up with an idea for my first tat. I never thought of posting on here for opinions. Excellent idea. As you said, it is permanent.

we are going to get into a little more detail with the face and eyes, since its going to be so much larger when fits my back.
and for the price, this is the shop i used for my other four. i'm kinda broke, but i'm not going to sweat the price too much, as with like anything else in life, you get what you pay for ;) but all in all aroung 5 hrs / $600. not bad for a back piece. i may tip $66 dollars to make it an even $666

I couldn't agree more.

Tats aren't tats... good tats are easily noticeable.

And they're for life... so drop the coin and have it done right. NEVER look for a discount tattoo... it's like looking for bargain basement surgery.

Taz and I go to a tat artist who's also very expensive, but he is phenomenal, and it's cleaner than a dentist's office. We've never had an issue or complaint yet.

... and fixing tattoos is not really a viable option is it? :-)

That's cool Boss - I think some people have the wrong image of a tattoo artist - mostly thanks to Hollywood's portrayals...

I know for some time that was the image I had cause I had never walked into a place til I dated a girl who's brother was a tattoo artist... He kept his place spotless - fanatical about it really. I just haven't crossed the threshold where I get one yet ::grin::

I took the liberty of doctoring the pic a little for you to give you an idea of some of the changes might look. i made the mouth a little larger (though I didn't change the details at all), i dropped in a facsimile for the devil-lizard eyes, and i also centered the veil on his forehead... to me this almost accomplishes the look of horns without doing much more. I'm sure an artist could do a much better job than photoshop boy can :-)

here it is...

I was saying that cause when I got my tat they just gave me an overall price..... $120/hr seems like alot to me especially when it's an entire back piece.... mine was just a 7" X 4" and i remember it taking like 2 hours.... I imagine this back piece is gonna be 2' X 1' (not sure but this is what I pictured in my head) and it's going to be very detailed.... so I can't imagine it taking only 5 hours... but myabe they got faster in the 7 years it's been since i got mine ;).... But I'm sure Triple 6 knows what he's doing and I'd never sacrifice quality, for something so permanet, to save a buck.... just thought $120 an hour was high ;)

Do you mind sticking Rainbow Brite next to it on the left, so we can get the full effect ;)

i have the jokers face, 2 tribals, and on each side of one of the tribal designs, there are two of the same face, one laughing or happy, and one in complete agony.

it is. but these guys have been in business here in green vegas for quite a while. they just moved into a new shop, so that might be part of the reason for the $120/hr. but i've been there before, and it's probably the only shop i'll ever go to again....unless we do a tat run a camp :)

well, it's done. we actually got everthing finished in the three hour session, except the shadow that the hand casts on the skin. i'll go back in about four weeks to get that extra hour of work, plus any touch up needed for the beast. so all in all, it's gonna cost around $500. not bad for a back piece. we moved at a pretty good speed, because i only had to stop her three times altogether.... but make no mistake about it. IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!!! it was nothing even close to what my upper arms felt like, it was nothing shy of torture.
my girlfriend amy, also got a dragonfly/tribal on her lower back after i was done, but hers only took about 40 mins.

a six pack, and a percocet later, i'm doing just fine, and lovin it. i was very pleased. i sent boss the pics of before, during and after. hopefully he'll post those for you guys to see in the next day or two.

special thanks goes out to Caroline H. at SkinGraffix tattoo's here in greenville NC  she did a great job on both our tats.
