it seems to me that I get more kicks from the mis-fortunes of the Giants and the Eagles than the Cowboys but that is most likely going to change if the 'boys ever get their team back into contention again :wink:

There's one thing that McDermott doesn't have of Jim Johnson's. He doesn't have decades of experience to draw from. Johnson had seen so much football, he could almost predict what the offense was going to call each time.

No matter how talented McDermott is...this is a definite loss for the Eagles.

The Eagles are overrated again. They are still planning to rely on Westbrook (who is overrated himself) to carry the load but I really think he is done. They have a couple nice young recievers but who knows how they will pan out. They lost their heart on both offense (Runyan) and defense (Dawkins) which has resulted in the situation that is the number 1 reason they will fail - McNabb is now the leader of the team. McNabb may end up in the HOF someday but he can't lead his way out of a paper bag. The guy is a diva to the extreme and everyone knows it, they just try to ignore it. They've been "the class of the NFC" for a decade now and what have they done to prove it?

I look forward to watching the Iggle Fan as his face chances from arrogance to that druken and confused look the first time we beat the snot out of them.

That's true, but McDermott has been with him for almost a decade at various positions. I could think of worse people to pass the buck to in terms of their defense.

If you look at his yards, he averages 1k-2k all purpose offensive yards a season. That's WITH his injuries. He turns 30 this Sep, and currently he has a total of 9330 yards. That's really nothing to laugh at. I think the HoF will determine how long he can produce at his current level, but at this point forward, he's certainly got a shot IMO.

Clinton Portis and B. West came into the league in 2002. CP has played in 100 NFL games and Westbrook has played in 99 NFL games.

CP has 11,108 yards from scrimmage, BW has 9,330

CP averages 111.3 yard from scrimmage a game for his career while BW averages 94.2 per game.

CP has 72 rushing TD + 4 rec + 3 throwing for a total of 79 TD's.

BW has 36 rushing TD + 29 rec + 1 throwing for a total of 67 TD's.

So, in one more NFL game CP has 1,778 more yards from scrimmage and 12 more TD's than BW.

Last time I checked the object of the game was to advance the ball and score points. CP clearly has the advantage over BW in both regards.

Now, I never hear the national media talk about CP as a potential HoF'er but everyone thinks BW is?

Maybe if CP still played for Denver with the same numbers he would be considered a potential HoFer.

CP should enter the top 20 in career rushing this season and if he has three more productive years (to get to 30 yrs old) he should be top 10.

The Eagles lost their starting MLB, Stuart Bradley, for the season today with a torn ACL. The loss of Jim Johnson, Dawkins and now Bradley makes me wonder if their defense will be as good. The new DC, Sean McDermott, has already said he's going to change some things scheme wise and perhaps not blitz as much, Bradley was the QB of their defense and Dawkins was the main voice and leader of their defense. We'll see what happens.

The loss of Bradley today is not good but this team will be tough this year - Losing Johnson is very big but I believe that McDermott will keep this defense competitive and Dawkins, while a bit of an inspirational force was getting on in years and I do not think he's going to be the impact player he was.

it's going to be tough in this group, but that's not a bad thing either

Living in Philly I hear all the news on the Eagles. I am telling you folks this team is going to have a very disappointing year - 6-10, 7-9, 8-8 something along those lines.

Why?

Becasue I have seen first hand (too many times) with the Redskins how little injuries, front office gaffes, arrogant players and coaches past their prime and high expectations have lead to miserable seasons.

1) they are counting on a 30 year old Westbrook;
2) they have lost Bradley to injury and have no suitable backup;
3) they lost their heart on defense in Coach Johnson and the nasty way they shipped Dawkins out of town;
4) Their offensive line is worse than ours - Shawn Andrews is still hurt and battling depression - its almost like he does not want to play football anymore. His brother Stacey is hurt as well;
5) They are counting on 170 lb Desean to be the number 1 receiver. He may be but it is also as likely the league will figure him out. Remember last year he was hit hard early in the Skins game and had alligator arms the rest of the game.
6) Macklin held out which means he will be in Reid's doghouse whether he is good or not;
7) Reid is a stubborn dictator unwilling or incapable of change;

McNabb is truly crazy and delusional. He will be running for his life behind the pourus O line and will toss a bunch on INT's.
9) Their team President said they have the best roster in the league - a sure kiss of death.
10) Their owner said that the best teams have not won the most recent Super Bowl's - meaning the Eagles were better than the Super Bowl winners. This is even a more sure kiss of death.

Seriousely, I do not see this season being a happy or good one.

The eagles have had a very bad camp but then again this team has always found a way to be better than they "look" - I would love it if we could finish above them in the standings :lol:

I never like any Cowboys' bunch but really the team that I dislike the most is the giants - actually more than the yankees but that is for another section

I hope for nothing but bad things to happen to that team from NJ this year and am secretly hoping for a big W in our first game with hopefully our defense hurting their offensive players and QB in particular :wink:

btw - I like the word "maimed" - it has such bad connotations, don't you think :twisted:

I heard a lot of praise for Philly this offseason with respect to their offensive line. :shock:

The signing of Jason Peters in particular has been viewed as one of the best moves in the NFL this spring.

What is it that makes your diagnosis so different? Just that Shawn and Stacey Andrews are hurt and/or depressed?

The rest of your list, btw, has me pumped to follow the Eagles this year. I have to admit that one of my guilty pleasures is in seeing them fail. Although I dislike the Cowboys and even the Giants more than the Eagles, for whatever reason seeing Reid and McNabb fall on their faces brings me far more happiness than when NYG or Dallas falters.

Nah, it's hard for me to hate the Smeagols too bad. They've never won anything, and the Philly fan friends I have are much more tolerable than the NY or Dallas variety. I'm talking on a personal level here, not about the stadium crowd of course.
