I sure do miss guys like John Riggins!!!!!!!!!!
Is there really any reason to expect the Redskins to win the division or slip into the playoffs? 82, 87 & 91 sure did spoil us. The glory days are a faded memory. How can we get back to a winning tradition? I even miss Clint Didier!

He was a little before my time, but I've heard all the stories about John Riggins and I wonder how he would have done in this day and age. Not on the field, he would have been great anyway but with the intense media coverage and twitter etc. how would people respond to a guy who comes to a team meeting and pulls up three chairs together and lays down for a nap? (T.O. nodded off during a meeting in one chair and it was a national event.) What what he said to Sandra Day O'Connor? Or how he would be drunk and just take a leak in the locker room?
I mean, those are stories people tell now fondly (who can blame them) but if a personality like Riggins was playing now, I don't think he'd be remembered as well since there's much more intense media coverage.

Whenever I watch a Chris
ey video, I get a bit of a Riggo flashback... whether watching him spoof a certain TE from ttit, or running through a tackle.

I think he would have been fine. Riggins likes to drink too much, but he's very smart and would have adjusted. Yes, they had the club where they all drank beer after practice. Guess what, Jansen brought his camper to training camp and did the same thing. Did that ever get coverage?
Lighten up, Sandy baby!
With the Cardinals reaching the Super Bowl, is Dan Snyder officially the worst owner in the league?

I guess that's true... I also think a lot of how the media covers stories is how much they like the person or not. T.O. doesn't seem to be well liked by reporters so they tell the story in a negative way. Reporter's like Tom Brady so if he's seen entering the apartments of 4 supermodels in one night then they paint a different picture.

Yeah, I hate it when I spend the night with 4 supermodels and the next day it's in all the papers. Damn Paparazzi!

There are no players to miss "like" John Riggins. For me, Riggins was unique and I loved watching him run. He was the one and only. If Campbell had a tenth of the intensity that Riggins had he just might look like he's trying. Is it just me? Or does Campbell look like, and play like he could careless. He does not look like a leader at all to me.

I think it's jus you. Campbell's leadersip can be questioned, but not his desire. I question his temperment to be an NFL QB.

I do not miss Diesel right now. But I miss the HOGS, all and every one of them.
And I miss Art Monk and Clark the players on the field and their strong and quiet character in the locker room.
We have not had a clutch player like Art Monk since he left and those 3rds and long simply do not get done anymore.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

You can't compare a me-first guy like TO to Riggins. Totally different characters. Riggins never as much as spiked the ball after scoring a TD, much less whipped out a Sharpie. John did the job on Sundays, and was beloved by his teammates. He was never a clubhouse cancer the way TO has been his entire career. Riggins was a character; TO has no character.

You have to realize, that was a totally different era. You could be hungover from a late Saturday nite and still play on Sunday. It wasn't a 12 month league then, either, as it is now. It's really tough to compare the greats from a different era to now because the game, every facet of the game, has changed, to some extent.
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.

I think you'll find the majority here think JC is a decent QB, but he doesn't have those intangibles that make a QB great, and can lead you back in the 4th quarter.

He will do whatever he can. It may not be enough.
Riggo was quite a character, but not a problem in the clubhouse. 1 thing I remember about him is watching the sideline when the D was on the field. Most players sit together by positions, RB's, WR's etc. Riggo always sat with the Hogs.
