Moss Injurs Hamstring
ESPN 980 just reported that Sanatan Moss injured his hamstring during this morning's practice. They didn't say whether or not it was a severe injury.

Redskins coach Jim Zorn said WR Santana Moss suffered a minor leg injury in practice. "It is minor and I will learn more about the injury when I get inside," Zorn said.

Here's the report on Thomas...
Devin Thomas came up limping after catching a pass from Colt Brennan. Thomas went to the trainers' tent and emerged limping noticeably with his right leg wrapped. Doesn't look good. Can't tell if it's his calf or knee, but my immediate reaction, based solely on his gait is that we won't see him on the field for a couple of days.
Malcolm Kelly is practicing and looks fine. He appears to be getting a few more reps. Of course, he wasn't hurt; he was just getting the afternoons off as a precaution.
After practice ended at 10:26, Jim Zorn met with reporters and indicated that Thomas' hamstring is not pulled. The team is just being cautious with him and wants to make sure nothing gets aggravated.

Cleg is right. I'm pretty sure I've now read every WR on this team is nursing a hamstring injury.
I don't understand the hamstring stuff one bit myself. There are some injuries from contact that are just freak things people can't avoid. But can't you avoid most hamstring injuries just by warming up properly and stretching well??? These are pro athletes with a lot of professional training staff around them! I just don't understand it.

It's important to note that neither Thomas or Moss have hamstring pulls. They merely tweaked their hamstrings and the team is simply being cautious so they do not escalate into pulls.

I dont get the hamstring issues either.. whether its a pull or tweak or whatever it may be.. this is ALWAYS a recurring problem for us and I do not get how its never addressed...
if this was happening with my team every year for about the last 3 yrs then I would take extra time to stretch and do whatever possible to prevent these injuries...
but our training staff and coaches just seem to blow it off each camp and then wonder why players arent in great condition when the season comes around or why there behind in the offense because they werent getting reps in practice[/list]

Gotta agree with our history with hamstrings. It seems there is always an inordinate amount each year. I'm not saying that this is the case now i.e. hamstring pulls, but you'd hope this is being addressed by the training staff.

Everybody needs to chill out. This is two a days. It's freaking hot. People sweat...a lot. They are professionals so I'm sure they know how to stretch. But sometimes with the heat and extra work, dehydration may play a factor and muscles tighten up. Please let's try not to over react. Until somebody says something is torn, just relax. All is chill here brother. If you read my post I wasn't pointing out to this recent event. I was talking in generalities. One must admit that hamstrings are an issue with the Redskins. Just an observation.

Gotta agree with our history with hamstrings. It seems there is always an inordinate amount each year. I'm not saying that this is the case now i.e. hamstring pulls, but you'd hope this is being addressed by the training staff.
1. We give too much glory to the injured...every presser starts with the
injury report, 80% of reporter questions are about injuries
2. Players pick up on a team being leaniant to the "injured" who wouldn't
want to be the guy taking 2 or 3 days off of camp, and if it means
grabbing a hammy they're not above grabbing it especially when there
is no threat of losing a roster spot like with Devin or Santanna
(although Santanna has earned credibility & the right to miss time)
There is only one way to fix our hamstring problem and it won't be with trainers; it's with TRUE competition and a sustained culture of no practice no play, and not enough practice no job.
A guy like Devin Thomas doesn't have to earn squat...he could grab his hammy for the next 4 years and retire with more money than probably all of this board combined, never worrying about money again, he's set, and it's not like his love and passion for football drives him to any great extent. We need a solid front office and coaching staff that takes a tougher stance on players who DOG IT when the team needs them.
Also, Jason Campbell doesn't have to wait for the season to start to display his leadership...he needs to give Devin Thomas a straightening out. Peyton certainly would...of course players respect Peyton Manning...does Jason have the teams respect? I don't think Devin Thomas respects or cares about anyone but Devin Thomas
he idolizes michael irvin, unfortunately its the irvin off the field he idolizes on the field devin is michael irvin without the skill passion and the work ethic.
