Congrats on the victory tonight, Justin.

Folks, the Maniacs are now on a nine game winning streak and are 9-2 on the season.

Come out to their final regular season game at 7 p.m. one week from tonight.

Reminder, the final home game is this Saturday night at the Show Place Arena where the Maniacs will go for their 10th win in a row!

For those of you that did not attend missed a special night.

The Maniacs won their TENTH straight game. TENTH.

And, my boy Chris Samuels was in attendance. He was actually there for a player on the opposing team but he was still there.

Shame on all of you deciding not to go. You missed out on your chance to meet the Skins Pro Bowl left tackle. ;-)

I will only drive to Maryland for a Redskins game. If they were located in Fairfax I would check them out.

The league is actually based in Richmond but the closest team to your proximity is the Maniacs.

Well the Maniacs have had a rough past couple of weeks.

Two Saturdays ago they lost to Peter Warrick's Bloomington Extreme 50-12 and just this Saturday they were walloped by the Rochester Raiders 64-39.

So their ten game winning streak has been snapped and they ended their regular season at 10-4 and have clinched a playoff birth.
They are off the next two weeks and I believe they are playing their playoff game three weeks from now.

The season has still been pretty incredible considering no one thought there would be any production from this new team.

Jake - thanks for the support as always. Yeah, a couple of tough ones, but Bryson didn't play the second half the other night, and we had lots of injuries. No excuses though - Rochester is, as always, a solid team and are perfectly capable of beating us at full strength. I'll be interested to see who comes out of their first round match-up with River City. Home playoff game will be the weekend of the 25th (or thereabouts) assuming we can find a location. Showplace is supposedly booked solid for horses the rest of the summer. Hopefully we can find an alternate spot, otherwise we will have to play away. I'll let you know as soon as we hear anything. Well, looks like, from the newsletter, that we have conceded the home game....first round will be on the road. Guess we'll just have to win to try and bring the conference championship game home.

Man, that's very disappointing. Good luck with the first game. We are in dire need of playoff football in this area.

Raiders switch date of regular-season finale
Rochester also will host playoff game
July 2, 2009

The Rochester Raiders of the Indoor Football League moved their final regular-season game to Friday, July 10 because of a scheduling conflict at the Blue Cross Arena at the Community War Memorial.

The game, originally scheduled for July 11, will start at 7:30 p.m. as Rochester hosts the Muskegon Thunder.

Also, the Raiders earned a first round home playoff game against the River City Rage, scheduled for Monday July 20.

The winner of this game will host Maryland on July 27. The Maniacs, despite earning the top seed, have to travel to play the game because a scheduling conflict at their arena.

Three losses in a row is a tough way to end a season but for an expansion team, it was a very good one overall given the ten game winning streak. Next year will not likely provide us with a ten game winning streak but hopefully it will bring postseason success.
