Broncos looking to trade Brandon Marshall
Link
Per a Denver station, Broncos attempting to trade Brandon Marshall. I live in Denver - Marshall appears to be a bit of a bonehead who needs to have someone explain that he doesn't touch a woman under any circumstances, even if she hits him first. But he is a fantastic player. Would you give Kelly or Thomas and a first? Or Moss and a first?

With the Cardinals reaching the Super Bowl, is Dan Snyder officially the worst owner in the league?

Looks like Moss would cost about $500 additional cap space if traded. Not sure if that number is accurate to include this years restructuring.
Kelly and Thomas would be about $200 hit to the cap.
So depending on the Marshall contract, it would be doable cap wise.

Yeah, I heard this yesterday that Marshall is requesting a trade. Man, this has to suck for Broncos fans. First it's Shanahan getting fired and replaced by essentially a kid who's not earning the respect from the players in the locker room. Then Cutler is traded and now another player is demanding a trade. This is not good for Denver.

I agree SkinsFreak - and I would only add that I hope we do not give up any draft picks for anyone for another 2 - 3 years - if anything I hope we get more picks, even if it means giving up players

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

All good points. Hard to see how a team could have a worse off-season than what the Broncos have had so far.

The Broncos signed Brandon Lloyd as well. He had decent rapport with Kyle Orton, so hopefully he can stay healthy this season.

Report: Broncos Agree to Trade Marshall

As we passed along yesterday, Brandon Marshall has requested that the Denver Broncos trade him. According to reports from the Denver area Tuesday, that request will be granted by Broncos' owner Pat Bowlen.
"Yes there was a meeting between Brandon, and Mr. Bowlen. There was a request for a trade. Mr. Bowlen has said that ownership will do everything in it's power to accommodate his wishes," said Marshall's agent Kennard McGuire to Fox31 Sports' Josina Anderson Tuesday morning.
Later in the day, McGuire told FanHouse's Calvin Watkins that the two sides will progress with trade talks, despite Broncos coach Josh McDaniels' claim that he expects Marshall to attend the team's training camp.
The word from the front office in Denver (outside of McDaniels) wasn't much, as they merely offered a "no comment." Teaming the report with the information we have in front of us -- in addition to the way the Jay Cutler fiasco went down -- it would appear Marshall will be wearing a different uniform come Week 1 of the season.

Calvin Watkins: Is Marshall Staying or Going?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The questions now shift to A) Who wants Marshall?; and B) What will it take to pry Marshall away from Denver?
In regards to the first part, there aren't many teams who wouldn't be interested in a receiver the caliber of Marshall. The fact that we're in mid-June, along with Marshall's salary demands as well as his health and off-field questions mitigate things a bit, though. We can speculate the Jets, Bears, Buccaneers, Eagles, Ravens and Cowboys would all be involved in the bidding for Marshall -- but that's pure conjecture at this point.
You'd think it would take a suitable replacement for Marshall along with some draft picks in order to land the troubled wideout. The thing is, no one offered more than a second-round pick for Anquan Boldin, and he seems like he'd be a much more attractive option for most teams.
Do the Eagles offer Kevin Curtis and two draft picks? Will 2nd and 3rd rounders be enough from the Bears? If not, do they tap into the 2011 draft to make the Broncos happy like they did with Cutler? Maybe the Cowboys send Roy Williams back on his way along with a pick or two?
Tons of speculation is sure to follow, because there aren't many receivers who can produce 206 catches, 2,590 yards and 13 touchdowns in two seasons -- as Marshall did in 2007-2008.
For now, though, it appears Marshall is officially on the proverbial block.
This may be a 1st. There is NO mention of the Skins as a team interested in him.

That's really hard to support blindly. I don't see us has having expendable people to dump simply for draft picks.

I was not proposing that they "blindly dump people" but rather that they should look at the big picture and that it might be better for the team to get younger players out of the draft and maybe use an older player to acquire more picks
BUT - if you are suggesting that the current management's reasons for this team's mediocre results to date are because they make so many "blind" decisions, I guess I would understand that

I was just saying that I don't see us having an abundance anywhere that I can say currently we could trade for pics. MAYBE a WR if both 2nd year players step up or MAYBE Davis if we don't utilize the two TE set that we all hope to see.

Imo we should trade Betts. He doesn't complement Portis at all and could probably bring us back a decent draft pick.

If most of the picks from the last two drafts step it up... then, they might be able to offer up a vet for picks if someone goes down somewhere.

Betts would more than likely bring in the best picks, as far as complementing Portis, they have to find someone this training camp because Betts is definately not getting the job done. Portis had almost 350 attempts last season Betts Jason Campbell almost had as many attempts as Betts and in the end he had more yards.

I've always liked Betts, but I've also said that he's a feature back and he won't get that opportunity here unless CP gets hurt again. He's young enough to go on and succeed somewhere else (hopefully in the AFC and not NE).

Betts is the type of RB that needs a substantial amount of carries per game and per season to be effective. He could very easily be the starter in most teams.

I wouldn't quite go that far.
He could be the starter here.
Maybe. Betts is a very solid player, no doubt, but I think that some people overrate him based on his performancesin 2006. While he did post big yardage numbers as a sub for CP that year, he did so against some of the worst rushing defenses in the NFL and still had a very difficult time scoring touchdowns. He also has had his share of fumbling problems. Maybe there are a few teams that he could be a starter for, but if you look around the NFL there aren't very many teams imo that he would be able to start for.

NO way in heck you trade Moss and a pick for a guy that will end up being suspended for a year at some point in his career.
Moss and a first is way toomuch even if Marshall could keep out of trouble with the law! I wouldn't give up just a first for him. maybe a third or fourth, with a conditional 2012 first if he has no more trouble with the law or is never suspened for a game.
I just wouldn't trade for him, period.

Yep. Here's the thing with Betts. While I agree he could bring something back in return and is too similar to Portis, I wouldn't trade him right now, as he could become the starter. If Portis were to get hurt and lost any amount of playing time, we'd need Betts in a big way.
We've already discussed, many times, about the need for a RB that brings a different set of skills to spell Portis in certain offensive situations. I believe Zorn would like that as well and is part of the reason behind the signings of Alridge and Dorsey; to get a Sproles type of RB to compliment Portis. Both Alridge and Dorsey have been practicing at RB as well as KR/PR.
However, hypothetically speaking, if Portis got injured, without Betts, we'd be hurting in the run game in my opinion. Alridge or Dorsey are not RB's that could handle and the bulk of the workload and and I'm not real sure how confident I'd be with Rock carrying the load and Alridge/Dorsey as the 2nd option. So again, without Betts, Rock and Alridge, for example, would have me very concerned carrying the ball on a full time basis.
I just read here recently that Betts has been impressing Zorn, Sherman and Mitchell in the offseason program, workouts and practices. I'd keep Betts for security, and even if Betts is retained, which I'm quite confident he will be, that doesn't mean a guy like Alridge couldn't make the team and still see the field. And to be quite honest, we're probably going to have to look at upgrading or getting younger at the RB position in the very near future anyway.
With regard to Brandon Marshall, I wouldn't trade anything for him. I'm about developing our own WR's and I still believe we have a group that can be productive.

I doubt that'd be possible.
I've thought over the past few years that you've been one of the biggest advocates for developing your own players and not trading away picks.
How does trading away 1 of about 4 young WR's stop us from developing our own players? How does trading away 1 WR stop us from developing our young LB's, DB's and other players? We have been developing players like Tryon who are impressing coaches.
How does trading away a reasonable pick detract from my ideals?
I'm for any move that makes the team better as long as it's reasonable.
